PARENT-TEACHER/STAFF CONFERENCES - NOV 12
CMIT South has been holding Parent-Teacher conferences this week. Conferences were held on Wednesday, 11/07/2009 and Friday, 11/09/2009 in the evenings. About 220 conference slots were filled held between these two days. Conferences will continue on Monday, November 12, 2018. Conferences on this day will begin at 8:00am while the last conference will be scheduled for 2:30pm. There will be a lunch break for staff between 11:15am and 12:00noon on this day. Another 600 conferences are already scheduled for this day. We look forward to continued partnership throughout the school year.

FIRST QUARTER HONOR ROLL ASSEMBLY
CMIT South is proud of all the Scholars who earned 3.0 GPA or above for SY19 First Quarter. This is a tribute to their hard work and dedications to scholarly pursuit. In addition Scholars of the Month for the months of September and October will be recognized. While these students may not have made Honor roll, their exemplary conduct and scholarly pursuit is commendable. Keep up the great work everyone. Invites will be sent out to honorees via email. Tuesday, November 27 9:00--6th grade 10:00--7th grade Wednesday, November 28 9:00-- 8th grade 10:00--High School We hope to see you there.

OPEN HOUSE FOR CMIT SOUTH ACADEMY MIDDLE/HIGH
CMIT South MS/HS is excited to hold three open house sessions for parents of prospective students who are interested in applying to the lottery for CMIT South Middle and High Schools. If you have students of secondary school age, please plan to attend one of this sessions. Sessions will hold as follows: Thursday November 15, 2018 @ 6:00pm Saturday December 08, 2018 @ 12:00noon Thursday January 17, 2019 @ 6:00pm We encourage all prospective families to join us for this event. We will be discussing our instructional program and offerings. Hope to see you there.

LOTTERY OPENS FOR PGCPS PCS FOR 2019-2020
Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) public charter schools is now accepting online Charter School applications for the 2019-2020 school year starting November 01, 2018. This year, lottery applications will be available for CMIT South MS/HS Grades 6 through 12. All Prince George’s County families can apply to a public charter school, as there are no attendance boundaries assigned to charter schools. Interested families must complete the online application for each child they wish to enroll. Prospective public charter school families must ensure that the students has a PGCPS student ID to apply. If your student does not have a PGCPS ID, please visit your neighborhood school to get one. You will need this information when completing the application. Umoja Ice Cream Sale A Success!
Today the Umoja Girls had another ice cream sale in support of our Zumba Pink Out and our first Umoja Girls Tee Shirt. The girls worked very well as a team to make the dream work! Girl Power at it's BEST! Go Umoja Girls You all ROCK. Special Kudos to the lead on this project Rachael Massey! Way to go Rachael!. We will have part 2 on Wednesday. A Mini Ice Cream Sale on Wednesday, November 14th immediately after school; $2.00 per bowl with toppings. Thank you Umoja Girls Rock !

2018-2019 CMIT SOUTH TIGERETTES CHEER SQUAD
Our winter sports are underway. Congratulations to the MS students that made the squad. Middle School Parents: If you student made the team she will need to provide a copy of a current physical, must have a minimum gpa of 2.0 on her 1st quarter report card and return a signed permission slip before she can practice. We are scheduled to practice Tuesday November 13th 3:15-4:45 pm. Transportation is important. Cheerleaders are expected to be picked up no later than 5:00 pm. MS cheerleaders were advised to come to the front office at dismissal to obtain an information packet to take home. Attached are documents that were included in the packet. Our first home game will be Monday November 26th, 2018 at 6:00 pm. It is imperative for all paperwork to be returned ASAP so that we can have productive practices. High School Cheer Tryouts will be this upcoming Tuesday November 13th from 3:15 pm- 5:00 pm. All interested students must have a minimum gpa of a 2.0. Once the selection has been made your child will receive a similar packet for completion. The first home game for HS is the 2nd week of December. The planning has begun for the 8th grade scholars' end of the year celebration and promotion ceremony. The next meeting will take place on Thursday, November 15th at CMIT South Conference Room at 6:00PM. A call-in number will be provided to those who can not physically attend. Umoja Girls Getting Ready for the Zumba Pink Out!
Umoja Girls are getting ready for the Zumba Pink Out! Today the girls had a TuTu workshop to make sure they are ready for the Zumba Pink Out! There are planning and leading this event. This gives the girls leadership opportunities to learn the importance of preparing, preparation and teamwork! WE ARE EXCITED! Date: Saturday, November 17, 2019 Time: 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM Location: CMIT South, Gym! Cost: $10 This is a CMIT Family Event! All proceeds will go to the Susan G. Korman Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation. We are asking those who are fighting like a Girl to join us and/or come in memory of those who fought the good fight like a Woman! Wear PINK! Join us dressed in your pink work out attire. Get, Fit, have Fun for the Cure of Breast Cancer Did you know: For over a decade Washington DC area has had the unfortunate distinction of having some of the highest rates of breast cancer mortality in the country. SGA Events!
Direct from the HS SGA Executive Board! -The CMIT SOUTH SGA is holding a canned food drive until Tuesday, November 20, 2018. The class that brings the most cans will receive a dress down day. -The CMIT SOUTH High School SGA is hosting "Movie Night" fundraiser will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5:00 PM -7:15 PM. Open to all high school students. It will be $3 in advance and $5 at the door and snacks will be sold. We’ll have popcorn, drinks, and candy. It will be located in the CMIT South Multi-purpose room. Please see any of the officers for more information!

CLASS OF 2020 SENIOR PACKAGE PAYMENTS DUE!
Class of 2020 Senior Package Payments Due!!!! The first payment for senior year packages are due Monday, November 12th. Payments can be made in person in the High School Computer Lab from 11-3pm. If you are not available to pay in person on the 12th, you can also make payment via Cash App. The cash tag is $cmitsclassof2020. Attached is the package information and prices. We are also asking all Class of 2020 parents and students to sign up for REMIND. REMIND will be our way to communicate with the class important dates and information. PSAT Presentation
Thank you to all who attended the PSAT presentation on Thursday, November 8, 2018. As promised please find the presentation attached for your use and review. * Additional tips discussed were to have your young scholar work with a timer at home to help remove the test anxiety of a timed test * Resources to help you solve questions and explain concepts to your child are: App: Socratic (works with multiple subjects) Math apps: Photo Math and Math42 Math websites: MathPapa or Algebra Calculator (https://www.mathpapa.com/algebra-calculator.html) Math Way (https://www.mathway.com/Algebra), Quick Math (https://quickmath.com/), (there are several more that are easy to find with a simple Google search) * Khan Academy will also offer individualized practice based on student performance if your young scholar completes the four pre-assessments for math and the four pre-assessments for English. CMIT South MS/HS will no longer have a Nurse on site. Friday, 11/09/2009 is Nurse Barlett's last day. We anticipate being assigned a nurse in the nearest future. We will continue to provide the best care to all students and will contact you should any concerns arise. In the interim, please direct any and all inquiries related to medications to your child's grade level administrator.

MANDATORY TRAINING FOR VOLUNTEERS (SY 2018-2019)
In an effort to keep all scholars safe, PGCPS has asked that all volunteers complete the SafeSchools online safety training program that is designed to train contractors and volunteers on school-related safety issues. Volunteers who regularly support the school as field trip chaperones, mentors, interns, tutors and others must complete the following on-line training modules: - Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Prevention for Volunteers (Full Course) -- 10 minutes - Prince George County Child Abuse: Mandatory Reporting (Full Course) -- 32 minutes - Prince George County Child Abuse: Mandatory Reporting for Volunteers (Full Course) -- 38 minutes - Student Safety Procedural Changes (Updated) (Full Course) -- 15 minutes Please click here to get started =====> https://www.pgcps.org/required-training/ Please complete your training as soon as possible! Do I have to purchase uniforms from this vendor?

No, however, uniforms purchased from other vendors must have 100% identical color tone and the CMIT South logo. The current uniform vendor provides donation to the CMIT South PTO based on sales. Each uniform purchase from Minuteman Press is contribution to the school. 


What is CMIT South's Daily Schedule?
8:20am - 8:40am:
- Student arrival (drop off is at the side entrance)
- Doors close at 8:40am (after 8:40am parents need to sign late students in at the Front Office)

8:20am - 8:45am:
- Homeroom (Breakfast is available during this time until 8:45am)

8:45am - 2:49pm for 6th & High School grades and 8:45am - 2:54pm for 7th & 8th grades: 
- Academic instruction

2:49/2:54pm - 3:10 pm: 
Student pick-up outside (Students who are not picked up by 3:10pm will be waiting outside for their ride. There is no adult supervision for these students during this time).

Clubs and enrichment activities will begin immediately following dismissal. All club/enrichment participants must report directly to the cafeteria. Students who continuously fail to report directly to their designated locations will lose the privilege to participate in any after school activities. 

How do I pay for my child's lunch?
Breakfast and lunch are served every day. You can add money to your child's account by visiting this link. You can also pay by cash or money order in the cafeteria. 

Can my child bring their own lunch to school?
Students can bring a lunch from home. Lunches can be stored in the student's locker. Lunch taken to lunch room should be consumed in lunch room. Student cannot return to locker after lunch. All lunch bags should be left in lockers if student do not wish to place in bins after lunch. Lunch bags are not allowed in class.

What do they serve for school lunch?
A monthly menu is provided by Food and Nutrition Services. Click here for lunch and breakfast menu.

What is the academic calendar?
CMIT follows the Prince George's County Public School calendar found here. To receive notifications of PGCPS school cancellations by providing information here.

Where can I find information about CMIT events and updates?
