Greetings!
We are preparing for a wonderful High School Spirit Week next week (February 14-18)! Please join us in celebrating this fun event centered around the theme "Winter Olympics". The student leaders have been working hard to make this week inclusive for everyone and have planned games for our scholars to play every day. In order to help make this week a success they are asking for support with supplies from their Wish List below. Sheriff Melvin C. High Scholarship Program - Application Due 3-25-22

The Sheriff Melvin C. High Scholarship Fund is proud to announce the opening of the application period for the Annual Melvin C. High Scholarship Program. Each year Sheriff High awards scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each to commendable Prince George’s County High School graduating seniors. This year, four (4) scholarships will be awarded.
For your convenience, I have also attached a copy of the application to this correspondence.
The application submission period is underway, and runs through Friday, March 25, 2022. Application packages mailed to the Office of the Sheriff must be postmarked no later than March 25, 2022. Completed application packets may also be submitted via email to: ejwhitmire@co.pg.md.us

The SMOB Advisory Council invites PGCPS students to Healthy Mind, Healthy You: A Student Forum.
Join us on Saturday February 19th, 2022 @Dr. Henry A. Wise High School for a mental health forum to learn ways to maintain your mental health and manage your stress.
As an SAC, we acknowledge the stressful situations students sometimes find themselves in school and therefore are offering workshops to not only offer support but knowledge on this issue.
Join us for a live panel discussion, yoga, the rage cage, food, and even service hours. We hope to see you there!

Check out this GREAT Scholarship Opportunity!:
The HBCU Week Foundation is pleased to announce the second year of the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) in partnership with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), American Chemistry Council, and Chemours. FOSSI is a yearly program providing at a minimal of 100 scholarships and professional development opportunities directed at furthering science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education in students from underrepresented communities. Last year 151 students across over 25 HBCU's received the Fossi Scholarship and are matriculating on your campus or a campus near you.
If selected, the student will receive a $40,000 scholarship award to attend a Historically Black College or University of their choosing. This award will be disbursed in the amount of $10,000 per year, for four (4) years, and will go directly to the institution in which the student is enrolled. Selected students will also receive internship preparation and placement, leadership training, mentoring, and access to the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) student networking opportunities.

Do I have to purchase uniforms from this vendor?
No, however, uniforms purchased from other vendors must have 100% identical color tone and the CMIT South logo. The current uniform vendor provides donation to the CMIT South PTO based on sales. Each uniform purchased is contribution to the school.
What is CMIT South's Daily Schedule?
8:20am - 8:40am:
- Student arrival (drop off is at the side entrance)
- Doors close at 8:40am (after 8:40am parents need to sign late students in at the Front Office)
8:20am - 8:45am:
- Homeroom (Breakfast is available during this time until 8:45am)
8:45am - 2:49pm for 6th & High School grades and 8:45am - 2:54pm for 7th & 8th grades:
- Academic instruction
2:49/2:54pm - 3:10 pm:
Student pick-up outside (Students who are not picked up by 3:10pm will be waiting outside for their ride. There is no adult supervision for these students during this time).
Clubs and enrichment activities will begin immediately following dismissal. All club/enrichment participants must report directly to the cafeteria. Students who continuously fail to report directly to their designated locations will lose the privilege to participate in any after school activities.
How do I pay for my child's lunch?
Breakfast and lunch are served every day. You can add money to your child's account by visiting this link. You can also pay by cash or money order in the cafeteria.
Can my child bring their own lunch to school?
Students can bring a lunch from home. Lunches can be stored in the student's locker. Lunch taken to lunch room should be consumed in lunch room. Student cannot return to locker after lunch. All lunch bags should be left in lockers if student do not wish to place in bins after lunch. Lunch bags are not allowed in class.
What do they serve for school lunch?
A monthly menu is provided by Food and Nutrition Services. Click here for lunch and breakfast menu.
What is the academic calendar?
CMIT South MS/HS follows the Prince George's County Public School calendar found here. To receive notifications of PGCPS school cancellations by providing information here.
Where can I find information about CMIT events and updates?
