Have You Signed Up For MakerFEST 2019?! ***REGISTER TODAY!***
|
Held on the first Saturday in May, this will be the 3rd Annual MakerFEST, CLF's yearly STEAM Festival celebrating our community's inner genius! CLF schools are now eight programs and six institutions across the State of Maryland serving over 3,200 students K-12! MakerFEST invites these students to participate with staff, parents and our wider CLF STEM community partners to feel encouraged to exhibit and enjoy all the day's inventions, artwork, personal projects, experiments, robots, wild creations, noble attempts, fine solutions to typical problems, and makers making so much more!
CLF will also have volunteer opportunities available for anyone who wants to help build the best MakerFEST ever!
To register for an exhibition space visit
https://www.clfadvancedstudies.org/makerfest
For volunteer opportunities visit
https://goo.gl/forms/y1qs5zfo8OPOuRo92
This year, the first Saturday in May happens to coincide with May 4th, often celebrated by fans of the widely popular Star Wars franchise.
We fundamentally feel obligated since astronomy, space exploration fit all too well into the MakerFEST concept, so Community Partnerships is also encouraging all exhibitors to share their project progress with @CLF_CLF on twitter or @ChesapeakeLighthouseFoundation on Facebook with the hashtag #MayTheFourthBuildWithYou.
Until next update, May The Fourth Be With You!

Absence Notes and Tardy Slips
|
Greetings CMIT South MS/HS Family!
Prince George's County has been trying to improve our attendance rates.
Students should provide a written note or email when they are absent. Notes may be brought to the front office where we will copy them and keep the original. Students should take the copy to any teachers of classes they have missed in order to receive their make up work.
Absence notes that are emailed should be sent to secretary@cmitsouth.org and also include the emails of the teachers whose classes will be missed. Staff emails may be found on our website under the "About Us" section. Notes should include the student's first and last name, reason for the absence and the date of the absence.
Students who are out sick may be excused up to two days with a written note from home. If a student is out three days or more they would need a doctor's note to excuse those absences.
The attendance bulletin can be found on the PGCPS website if you would like additional information.
Have a great weekend!

High School Yearbook Pictures Needed
|
Get your pictures in this year's high school yearbook!
We would like to invite all parents, guardians, family members, and students to submit photos for this year's high school yearbook. If you have great photos of high school events or of you and your friends just having fun, we would like to see them! Our photographers can't be everywhere this year, so help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have. The more pictures we have, the better chance of seeing yourself and your friends in the yearbook! We want photos of sporting events, school events (Hispanic Heritage, Talent Show, school dances, Black History Celebration, etc.), and casual group photos too.
We have two ways to submit photos this year and they can be submitted from now until the end of April, so upload after each event you attend throughout the year. See below and the attachments for instructions on how to use either site.
Option 1: ReplayIt Site
On this site, you can upload any school-related photos off your phone or Facebook to a school-wide photo sharing site. This allows any member of the school community to see pictures of all the things happening at school this year. Directions for setting up a ReplayIt account are attached below.
Option 2: Private Upload
If you'd rather not share your photos to the entire school community site, you can upload them strictly for yearbook use.
Here is how you can submit photos privately:
• Go to: https://images.memoryebooks.com/login
• If it does not automatically log you into the site, enter username: 411873682
• Browse to select the photo(s) you wish to upload.
• Enter information about the photo and provide contact information in case the staff needs additional information.
• Click "Save Details".
It's that easy..submit your photos today! Remember, the last day to submit photos is April 22nd, but don't wait...do it today and keep submitting as the year goes!!
**(We will review all photos and determine final yearbook content. We cannot guarantee that all submissions can be used in the book.)
