DANGEROUS APP: MOMO CHALLENGE - PLEASE READ
Dear Parents and Guardians, Prince George’s County Public Schools is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students. To this end, we want to make you aware of a potentially dangerous internet trend targeting young children called the “Momo challenge.” When using Whatsapp and YouTube and some other online resources, a scary avatar named Momo interrupts videos and challenges children to complete a series of bizarre and potentially dangerous tasks and upload evidence they were completed. On the final day of the challenge, children are encouraged to win the game by committing suicide. Children are threatened throughout the challenge with harm or sharing their personal information online if they do not complete the tasks. We are partnering with families to raise awareness of this online threat. Please discuss the challenge with your child and use online safety practices that include not accepting invitations from strangers or taking part in anonymous challenges. We encourage you to allow electronic device usage in shared family spaces. Please monitor your child’s social media accounts and online activities, and install parental controls and filters. Please see the attachment for additional information regarding this App. Thank you for your continued support of CMIT SOUTH MS/HS

11th Grade College Summit Mrs. Payne
I would like to congratulate the College Summit class on their commitment, collaboration, and creativity for fusing the college experience and the celebration of Black History Month. This course allows these students to create action plans according to their high school transcripts, in the 11th grade, and transfer these skills to postsecondary levels. The College Summit students are also learning how to create goals, essays, resumes, and personal statements for the college application process, the college experience, and even employment opportunities. Next, these students have constructed study plans, life plans, and college lists of their choice. In addition, the students were provided the opportunity to participate in data analyses of college admission exam results to enable them to set expectations to be prepared and be competitive for the colleges of their choice. One exciting exposure was to have the College Summit students be exposed to the financial components which will show them how to be proactive and navigate through the entire financial aid process. Ultimately, these students will acquire the necessary skills to prepare them to be college and career ready for any path that they choose when they graduate high school.

WE WANT YOUR PICTURES FOR THE MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARBOOK!
Get your pictures in this year's middle school yearbook! We would like to invite all parents, guardians, family members, and students to submit photos for this year's middle school yearbook. If you have great photos of middle school events or of you and your friends just having fun, we would like to see them! Our photographers can't be everywhere this year, so help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have. The more pictures we have, the better chance of seeing yourself and your friends in the yearbook! We want photos of sporting events, school events (Hispanic Heritage, Talent Show, school dances, Black History Celebration, etc.), and casual group photos too (you can keep the selfies though!). We have two ways to submit photos this year and they can be submitted from now until the end of April, so upload after each event you attend throughout the year. See below and the attachments for instructions on how to use either site. Option 1: ReplayIt Site On this site, you can upload any school-related photos off your phone or Facebook to a school-wide photo sharing site. This allows any member of the school community to see pictures of all the things happening at school this year. Directions for setting up a ReplayIt account are attached below. Option 2: Private Upload If you'd rather not share your photos to the entire school community site, you can upload them strictly for yearbook use. Here is how you can submit photos privately: • Go to: https://images.memoryebooks.com/login • If it does not automatically log you into the site, enter username: 411443695 • Browse to select the photo(s) you wish to upload. • Enter information about the photo and provide contact information in case the staff needs additional information. • Click "Save Details". It's that easy..submit your photos today! Remember, the last day to submit photos is April 22nd, but don't wait...do it today and keep submitting as the year goes!! **(We will review all photos and determine final yearbook content. We cannot guarantee that all submissions can be used in the book.)
