On behalf of the entire staff of CMIT South MS/HS, I would like to wish our entire community a great summer. We have worked very hard in every way, and we are all deserving of a break. Please stay plugged in by checking your emails occasionally throughout the summer. Set some time aside to rest and rejuvenate. We wish you all safe travels and hope to see you back in September. CMIT South MS/HS is providing our families with uniform company information. Please plan to visit the uniform company for your scholars' uniform needs. Please reference the uniform policy via the attachment prior to acquiring uniforms to ensure compliance with the uniform policy. Also attached in a coupon from the uniform companies that expires soon. Please take advantage of the discounts offered. Teenagers typically experience growth spurts especially during middle school years. Please factor this in as you pick sizes to be worn in the fall.

Bulletin for CLF Parents/Guardians of CMIT South Students

CLF Enrichment is pleased to announce OPEN REGISTRATION as of July 1, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. The open enrichment registration for all current and new parents/guardians will remain open for as long as spots remain open and may include availability throughout the school year. As long as spots remain open, we will keep the registration window open to accommodate as many new/current families as we can.
Please note there are limited spots available. As these spots fill on a first-come, first-serve basis, once the available spots at any given school reach capacity, registration for that school site will automatically close; a waitlist will begin.
You may log into our online CLF Portal at: https://cec.clfportal.org/ and follow the prompts to complete the online registration on or after July 1st. Remember, your user ID is the email address on file with your child’s school. For new families, your password, if you have never logged in before, will be generated by the system and emailed to you.

CMIT South MS/HS Summer Office Hours

CMIT South MS/HS will continue to follow PGCPS guidelines for phased opening of schools. Our office hours are below:
SUMMER OFFICE HOURS:
- Monday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
- Wednesday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
**Please note that we are still practicing safety guidelines and social distancing. For that reason office hours are primarily for email and phone inquires. Access to the building will not permitted without an appointment and approval by school administration.

CLF Enrichment Proposal and Announcement

Information Bulletin for
Parents and Legal Guardians of Students
Thank you for your continued patience as we make adjustments due to school closings as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Open enrichment registration for all current and new parents/guardians will commence Monday, July 1 at 09:00 a.m. and remain open throughout the school year as long as spots remain open. Please note there are limited spots available and these spots will be filled on a first come first serve basis. Once the available spots at any given school filled registration for that school site will close and a waitlist will be started.
You may log into https://cec.clfportal.org/ and follow the prompts to complete the online registration. Your user ID is the email address on file with your child’s school. Your password, if you have never logged in before will be generated by the system and emailed to you.
Once the contract has been signed and the emergency card has been filled out please make the initial non-refundable deposit of $50.
The program follows the regular school calendar. When schools are closed for any reason, the program is closed. When schools are open for any part of the day, the program is open (modified hours may be in effect for half days or inclement weather days).

You may also leave a message on our Central Office phone voicemail at (301)776-2300 option 2. Please note, the CLF Central Office staff is working on a modified schedule due to the COVID19 restrictions and will not be available via phone every day of the week. Chesapeake Math & IT South Summer Bridge Program
|
Attention Parents/Guardians:
CMIT South would like to extend an invitation to any rising students in grades 6-9 to attend our first Summer Bridge Program. The summer virtual program will focus on enrichment-based reading and math curriculum providing students with activities that will help build their skills. Educators will utilize various resources and online programs to provide instruction to students enrolled in summer programs. Instruction will be in a blended format which will include live interactions (virtually) with teachers and grade-level peers. This is a 4-week program that will begin on July 6, 2020-July 30, 2020 Monday - Thursday from 9:30-11:30. Attendance is mandatory. If your child misses more than two days they will be dismissed from the program. June 26 ,2020 is the deadline to apply.
Please note there are only 60 available seats per class.

Summer Book Club
|
Please join me for my summer book club. We will be reading and discussing "Dear Martin" by Nic Stone. Our first virtual book club discussion will take place Wednesday, June 24th at 1:00 p.m. This book club is open to all high school students, including incoming 9th graders. Do I have to purchase uniforms from this vendor?
No, however, uniforms purchased from other vendors must have 100% identical color tone and the CMIT South logo. The current uniform vendor provides donation to the CMIT South PTO based on sales. Each uniform purchased is contribution to the school.
What is CMIT South's Daily Schedule?
8:20am - 8:40am:
- Student arrival (drop off is at the side entrance)
- Doors close at 8:40am (after 8:40am parents need to sign late students in at the Front Office)
8:20am - 8:45am:
- Homeroom (Breakfast is available during this time until 8:45am)
8:45am - 2:49pm for 6th & High School grades and 8:45am - 2:54pm for 7th & 8th grades:
- Academic instruction
2:49/2:54pm - 3:10 pm:
Student pick-up outside (Students who are not picked up by 3:10pm will be waiting outside for their ride. There is no adult supervision for these students during this time).
Clubs and enrichment activities will begin immediately following dismissal. All club/enrichment participants must report directly to the cafeteria. Students who continuously fail to report directly to their designated locations will lose the privilege to participate in any after school activities.
How do I pay for my child's lunch?
Breakfast and lunch are served every day. You can add money to your child's account by visiting this link. You can also pay by cash or money order in the cafeteria.
Can my child bring their own lunch to school?
Students can bring a lunch from home. Lunches can be stored in the student's locker. Lunch taken to lunch room should be consumed in lunch room. Student cannot return to locker after lunch. All lunch bags should be left in lockers if student do not wish to place in bins after lunch. Lunch bags are not allowed in class.
What do they serve for school lunch?
