PGCPS CLOSING UPDATE
|
As you are aware, school is closed, and will undergo cleaning from 03/14/2020 to 03/29/2020. Please review attached letter related to closing from Dr. Monica Goldson.
It is CMIT South MS/HS's goal to ensure continuity of learning during this period. To this end, teachers will maintain a presence through online platform Edmodo. Student will continue to learn virtually during this period. Here are some things to keep in mind:
-- All assignments are based on previously covered contents
-- Ensure your scholar checks Edmodo daily for assignments, help materials and due dates.
-- Email the teacher with questions you may have related to work assigned
-- Please direct inquiries unrelated to class assignments to secretary@cmitsouth.org
-- Take this opportunity to help your scholar complete required Service Learning Hours
-- We do not yet have an update on Spring Break
-- There will be no Saturday Academy
-- There will be no Athletics practice
-- All field trips scheduled during this period, including the 04/03/2020 College Fair are canceled
-- Check pgcps.org for updates frequently
Upon return, we will go directly into testing season. Student will be sitting for consequential state assessments. Please encourage your scholars to take assigned work seriously and practice learned skills on their own.
Please be safe and hope to see everyone back soon.

LAW LINKS SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
|
For over 27 years, the Prince George’s County Bar Association (PGCBA) has sponsored the Law Links Summer Internship Program. The Law Links Program provides select Prince George’s County Public School students with summer employment opportunities in law firms and law-related agencies. Students have the opportunity to learn about the professional world, the legal system, and law office operations. The Program offers students personal interaction through their work experience, law-related activities, and the Law and Leadership Institute. The Law Links Program seeks to assist the students in reaching their post-high school goals, to encourage higher education as part of those goals, and to encourage other professional organizations to adopt similar programs in the ensuing years. This is a paid summer internship for students entering the 11th and 12th grade.
Once selected, we assign each student to a participating law firm or law-related agency. The student is expected to work 30 to 40 hours each week throughout the Program. Included in the 30 to 40 hour week is the Law and Leadership Institute, a class that the student attends each week at the courthouse. This year, the Program will run for a seven week period, from June 22, 2020 to August 14, 2020.
The application deadline has been extended and students may apply through April 5, 2020. Application form and directions for submission is attached. Should you have any questions regarding the Law Links Program, please contact/call (301) 952-3767 or napearson@co.pg.md.us.
