GENERAL NEWS
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR
Dear CMIT South Families: It is amazing that the month of July is already flew by and we are a month away from first day of school. CMIT South Admin have been working hard to ensure that we are not only fully staffed but that we hire talents who will bring passion in their content and a heart for working with children . I am happy to say that as of today, we have filled all our positions. In a few weeks, all CMIT South will report back to work and we will complete our preparation to receive your scholars on September 4, 2018. CMIT South continues to grow every year, for the upcoming year we will be 785 scholars strong with a exactly 70 instructional and support staff. Specifically, support staff includes 1 principal, 3 Assistant Principals, 2 School Counselors, 5 Student Support Specialist, 5 SPED Resource staff, 3 secretaries, 1 Nurses, 1 Operations Specialist, 1 IT Technician and 54 Classroom Teachers. I look forward to another year filled with accomplishments in and outside the classroom. I also look forward to the ever present partnership we enjoy with our parents - it takes our village to educate our scholars. Together we - students, parents and staff, are the three critical legs of the stool holding up our scholars and ensuring that they are successful.

IMMUNIZATION COMPLIANCE
According to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene School Health Services Regulations, schools may not knowingly admit students without proper documentation of age appropriate immunity against vaccine preventable diseases (COMAR 10.06.04). New state immunization requirements mandate that all students entering Grades 7 must have one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis vaccine) and one dose of meningococcal vaccine.
Please contact your health care provider to ensure that your child's immunization is up to date this summer to prevent their exclusion from school upon resumption come September 4, 2018. You can go to your primary care provider now to get your child immunized for the 2018/2019 school year. Other options include going to the local health department clinics, pharmacies, grocery stores and urgent care centers. Parents of students without insurance should contact the Prince George’s County Health Department at 301-583-3000. Please send all immunization records to nurse@cmitsouth.org. Continue to enjoy your summer!!!
