Science Olympiad
|
Have you ever wondered what the Science Olympiad is all about? Do you want to engage with science in a way you have never before? Then join CSP's Middle School or High School Olympiad team. We are currently looking for more student and parent volunteers for the 2016-2017 School Year. We meet after school on Tuesday's and Thursday's in Rooms 113(MS) and 201(HS).
What is the Science Olympiad? In grades 6-12, Science Olympiad functions much like a football or soccer team, requiring preparation, commitment, coaching and practice throughout the year.Science Olympiad competitions are like academic track meets, consisting of a series of 23 team events in each division (Division B is middle school; Division C is high school). Each year, a portion of the events are rotated to reflect the ever-changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology. By combining events from all disciplines, Science Olympiad encourages a wide cross-section of students to get involved. Emphasis is placed on active, hands-on group participation. Through Science Olympiad, students, teachers, parents, principals and business leaders bond together and work toward a shared goal.
Who To Contact Middle School Coach: Ms. Beazer (ybeazer@mycsp.org) High School Coach: Mr. Vadalia (avadalia@mycsp.org)

Turkish 3-4
|
HELLO CSP parents and students! Turkish 3, 8th graders, did a very good job for their Unit 1 Project. They were in charge as the chef and shared their recipes with us by recording and posting them on Edmodo. We have learned a lot of new recipes like avocado salad, pizza, fruit salads and learned many new Turkish vocabularies and expressions! Thanks to all the parents for helping us in the kitchen.
In Turkish 4, we will be working on the second unit and learning how to ask and answer questions about our leisure times and hobbies. We have completed 1 project and have taken 1 test so far. All students signed up Duolingo and get an assignment to finish two courses as a homework. Duolingo is one of the most popular and well-known tools for learning a language online and kids really like it!

Robotics Practicing
|
As our robotics team is up and running, we are just a few meetings away from beginning robotic construction. We have began to construct the robotic field provided by the FTC group. We have began to disassemble last year's robot, while preserving portions we find could be useful. Other members are diligently designing what we think will be the most useful robot based on the challenge presented to us. A few members are continuing to perfect work in the JAVA platform. Finally, our remaining members are working to maintain our design journal and creating our team portfolio. Have have been signed up for at least one competition in January, but are looking forward to competing in many more throughout the year.
