Friday A / B Schedules
|
Parents,
As you are aware, we do not have a set pattern for Fridays. It appears like they rotate, but actually sometimes there are two even three Fridays in a row that are A days. We do this to make sure there are an even number of A and B days in each quarter.
I have attached a copy of the Friday A/B schedule.

Repeat-Free School
|
Hi CSP Parents,
Please see below regarding details on Chesapeake Science Point's NO REPEAT policy. If you have questions and/or concerns regarding this matter, please reach out to your child's school counselor.
CSP continues to provide a rigorous and quality education to all students. It has always been our goal to improve upon past practices, find new ways to engage students and make learning something students enjoy. We also believe that high school students need to put forth that same effort in order to become successful adults; therefore, CSP is Repeat Free. If a student receives an E in a required high school course, the class will have to be repeated in an alternate program such as summer school, evening school and twilight school. These programs are available for students to make up credits in courses that they were not successful in the first time; classes at CSP are for students taking them for original credit. If a student does not make up the failed class in one of these alternative programs, there is a chance that we will not be able to schedule the student for the classes required for graduation and the student will have to take classes at CSP for more than four years.

Importance of Attendance
|
Keeping An Eye On Attendance
Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success. As children grow older and more independent, families continue to play an important role in making sure students attend school regularly and on time. Did you know that students are considered chronically absent even if they only miss a day or two every few weeks?
Parents: Talk to your children about the importance of going to school each day and make that the expectation. Help them maintain daily routines such as finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep. Do not let your child stay home unless they are truly sick with a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. When a student is absent, please send a written note to their teacher listing the date and reason for missing school.
Students absent four days or more by the end of October are considered chronically absent. Parents may receive a phone call and/or letter regarding concerns and a conference may be scheduled.
Attendance is an important life skill that will help your child graduate from college and keep a job.

FIELD TRIPS
|
|
8th Grade Field Trip- Philadelphia/Gettysburg
|
Please see the attached PDF for the details to our upcoming trip to Philadelphia and Gettysburg. The field trip is limited to only 42 spots. We will use a google form to help facilitate the process due to the limited spots. They will be on a first come first serve basis. Student's must have the completed google form, permission slip, and deposit. We are also looking for ten chaperones to come with us. We would love to have you please let Ms. Motsco (smotsco@mycsp.org) know if you are interested.
All Chaperones who attend an overnight field trip are responsible as follow per our board policy:
One-on-one unsupervised or unrestricted access- a person having responsibility for a student while not in the direct continuous view of an AACPS employee. This does not include chaperones or volunteers who supervise groups of students (e.g. field trips to the zoo, museum, BSO performance).
Fingerprint-supported background checks must be scheduled through the Fingerprinting Office at 410-222-5045. The Fingerprinting Office is located at the AACPS Central Office on Riva Road and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, during the school year. The cost of fingerprinting is $58.25 and it includes the commercial background check. Fingerprint-supported background checks for chaperones should be completed at least 3 weeks prior to the scheduled field trip.
Each applicant requiring a fingerprint-supported background check is provided with a blue Fingerprint Verification Card. This card should be kept with the applicant while on school grounds and should be displayed to an administrator upon request. Each school should keep a running list of chaperones and volunteers that have been fingerprinted.
All questions regarding this process, or to confirm the results of a fingerprint-supported background check should be directed to the Office of Investigations at 410-222-528
Thank you! 8th Grade Team
