Welcome from Ms. Gunes
Hello everyone! This is Yasemin Gunes. I teach AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics this year. This is my 10th year at CSP and 15th in my teaching career. I have a B.S in Mathematics and M.A in Secondary Math education. This is my second year as Khan Academy Ambassador (https://www.khanacademy.org/ambassador) and I was elected one of the 16 among hundreds of ambassadors and was invited to Khan Academy head quarters (in California) over the summer for the summer summit. I met the founder of Khan Academy (Salman Khan) in California and presented my Khan Academy experience to their staff. This was an awesome opportunity as I was the only one from Maryland and I get to share CSP data with them. Beside Khan Academy, I'm a Rubik's Cube Ambassador. I will be offering Rubik's Cube Club to all students after school. Together we will organize and participate local competitions. We will design cool mosaics from Rubik's cubes. I'm excited to get to know new students who loves cubing. If you have any questions about using Khan Academy or about the Rubik's cube program, please feel free to reach out to me at ygunes@mycsp.org . You as a parent can learn anything from www.khanacademy.org and your little ones can use khan academy kids app to get ready for school. Just a heads up, for all 11th and 12th graders, I'm planning to set up weekly SAT study goals using Khan academy. Stay tuned,

New Counselor - Mrs. Siwicki
Hello Chesapeake Science Point Parents! I am so excited to be joining the staff here at Chesapeake Science Point! Prior to joining the Tiger family, I spent eight years at North County High School as a school counselor working with students and families. The two great loves of my life are: my family (my husband Jacob and my one year old whose name is also Jacob) and my opportunity to work with students to help them reach their full potential. I will be working with all sixth graders as well as high school students (grades 9-12) whose last names are between A-L. I am here at Chesapeake Science Point on Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's. The counseling department is kicking off the year with guidance lessons in the 6th grade and working with seniors on college applications. We have a very busy and exciting year ahead of us. I am looking forward to getting in the classroom and getting to know the students. I look forward to working with your family! Please feel reach to reach out any time with questions and/or concerns.

Hello Parent/Guardians, Emergency Cards/Code of Conduct forms (Handbook) Please review and make any changes, sign, and date the emergency card. NO ONE will be allowed to pick your child up that is not listed on the card. Please make sure to answer all questions regarding your contacts. Please make sure that the Code of Conduct form is signed and dated by a parent/guardian and the student. Just a reminder if your child is transferring or withdrawing from CSP, you will need a transfer packet from me. This takes time to do, so I will need to know in advance. I will need the name and phone number to the school they will be attending. Upcoming 7th graders will need the Menningoccal (MVC4) and Tetanus, diphtheria & acellular pertusis vaccine (tdap) before entering the 7th grade. If you have not already done so, please send me an updated immunization record when your child receives them. Attendance: Students are permitted into the building as early as 8:00am. This allows time to visit their lockers, eat breakfast, etc. Students must be in the school and in their classrooms before 8:20 or they will be marked tardy.

Welcome Back from CSP-PTSO
Hello CSP-PTSO family, On behalf of the CSP-PTSO, we would like to welcome everyone back to school. You ask what is PTSO? PTSO stands for Parent-Teacher-Student Organization, consisting of parents, teachers and students working together. What is the PTSO and who can be a Member? The PTSO is made up of several officers: Davette Phifer, President, Jennifer Blackwell, Dianna Davis, Vice Presidents, and Santha Cortes, Secretary, and William Hyman, Treasurer not to mention our wonderful school staff, students, and volunteers. So, who can be a member? If you’re a father, mother, protector, guardian, and/or a person who teaches or instructs at CSP. If you answered YES, then we would like you to become a member. Our primary objective as a PTSO is to provide our school with funds, programs, resources, and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child and to benefit the school. To meet this important objective, we fundraise. Here are a few programs that we sponsor and/or support: HS Homecoming, School annual Fall & Spring Book Fairs, MS Dances, Harvest for the Hungry, Teacher & Staff Appreciation, Star Student Lunch, Earth Day, and various other events throughout the year. Become a Volunteer…. Why YOU should get involved? As you can see, we are a small and busy group. This is where you can come in! We need your help, and so do our children. A special thanks to all our volunteers from last year for all their hard work and dedication. Here at CSP, we strive for excellence and what better way than to become involved today. We are seeking volunteers to continue re-establishing the organization. We have planned some exciting events this year in hopes to get more parents involved in their children’s education. The PTSO is a team effort in which we cannot succeed on our own. Please come and join us by signing up.
