Media Center Sewing Circle Changed to a Tuesday Afternoon Club
|
Due to the need for more time for instruction than a lunch period could provide, and the volume of students interested in learning to sew, Dominick Sizemore’s mother has kindly agreed to move the instruction from Thursday lunch periods to Tuesday afternoons at 3 pm starting the last Tuesday of this month (October 30th ). Because space is limited, we are asking students to sign-up in advance with either Ms. Gomaa or Ms. Leslie Santacroce in the Media Center. A special “thank you” to Ms. Sizemore for her generously volunteering her time, energy and sewing materials!

Immunizations, Residency, Parent Connect
|
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I'm starting my reminders early for 6th grade parents. All students entering the 7th grade must provide proof of receiving the tdap and MCV4 immunizations. You can fax (443-757-5280) or email me (jcalvert@mycsp.org) the updated records. When you send me the proof if immunizations, please follow up to make sure that I received them. Remember, your 7th grader must show proof before they can begin school next year.
If you move to a new home, you must complete a new registration form and provide updated information. Please contact me for a list of the required documents that you will need.
Only one Parent Connect account is permitted per household. The email address used to set up your account is the one that your information will be sent to. You will need to inform me if you want to change it. Once you receive your username and password, please keep this information in a safe place.
Thanks,
June (Registrar)

Repeat-Free School
|
CSP continues to provide a rigorous and quality education to all students. It has always been our goal to improve upon past practices, find new ways to engage students and make learning something students enjoy. We also believe that high school students need to put forth that same effort in order to be become successful adults; therefore, CSP is Repeat Free. If a student receives an E in a required high school course, the class will have to be repeated in an alternate program such as summer school, evening school and twilight school. These programs are available for students to make up credits in courses that they were not successful in the first time; classes at CSP are for students taking them for original credit. If a student does not make up the failed class in one of these alternative programs, there is a chance that we will not be able to schedule the student for the classes required for graduation and the student will have to take classes at CSP for more than four years.

OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS

It's Report Card Time!
|
Your child will receive his/her report card on Tuesday, November 20. Please take a moment to review the report with your child to celebrate successes and to have a conversation about future goals. If your child struggled this first quarter and earned poor grades, the Children's National Heath System offers the following suggestions:
1. Determine whether this is unusual or showing a trend. If you are seeing a trend, it may be important to consider seeking an expert evaluation on your child’s school performance to determine if there are any emotional, behavioral, or learning concerns that might be affecting your child’s functioning in school. Any of those issues can be addressed if the problem is identified.
2. Calmly ask your child to describe his/her thoughts about the report card. Ask how your child feels about it. Ask your child why he/she thinks he/she got each of the grades.
3. Ask your child’s opinion on what to do next. Remind your child that this is a great learning opportunity to figure out how to help him/her in the future. Come up with solutions together and let him/her know you are there to help. Maybe he/she would like more support with homework, a tutor or help with organizational skills.
4. Remember that the school and your child’s teachers should be part of the team to help promote success. If you need to set up a meeting, make sure you come prepared with your goals and make sure you include your child in setting those goals. If you help the teachers understand your and your child’s goals, they can help you get there.
Above all, the most important thing is to remind your child that you are on their team to help. Providing support is valuable in helping your child be more motivated.
Remember that Parent Connect is a great tool to monitor your child's grades throughout the quarter as well.
