Week Two Distance Learning
|
It has been a very busy two weeks of virtual learning at CMIT South MS/HS. In the classes, baseline data is being gathered in the form of assessment to see where students are for the purposes of directing instruction and interventions appropriately. This will continue for another week or two. Additionally, we have moved from getting to know each other to instruction. Overall, we are off to a great start. School year 2020 is shaping up to be one full of learning and growing already. We look forward to a productive year.
Please continue to stay engaged and active throughout the year. Help to support your scholar's learning at home, ensure that they are ready daily and logged on by 8:30am. Speak to them about their day, download the Edmodo app on your phone and follow classroom activities, additionally be sure that you have Schoolmax login. You will begin to receive the weekly grade reports shortly. In partnership, the scholars will have a successful school year.

A few Reminders for MS Families
|
Dear Parents ;
I would like to thank you for your great efforts to prepare our scholars for "unusual" virtual learning environment. I found our parents very supportive and encouraging their children during first two weeks of virtual learning. With your support, CMIT will always be a great choice for our scholars. I would like to remind you for a few important things that will impact synchronous learning environment;
1. Please make sure your scholar is ready each and every virtual lesson by being on time.
2. Please make sure to connect with your subject teacher for subject related questions first.
3. Please remind your scholars to be active during virtual lessons by asking questions or participating in lesson activities.
4. Please follow up assignments/grades on SchoolMAX and assignment posts on Edmodo at least two times a week to see the progress of your child.
5. Please remind your scholar to take care of their technology devices in order to stay in connection with school.
I hope we will have another amazing school year all together!

Peer Mentoring Club
|
Welcome back to school! We know that times are tough right now due to the ongoing pandemic and the new school environment, but the class of 2021 is organizing a program that might make things a little easier. We are starting a virtual peer mentoring program. This peer mentoring program is being organized in the hopes to improve students' mental, physical, and emotional health, by giving them someone to open up to and hear from. This program can lead to the building of a better self, getting better grades, and boost confidence. It can also create a more engaged, communicative and resilient student. The peer program also helps mentees become prepared for the real world. . To be a mentor you must fit the following criteria:
2.5 minimum GPA
Must be a junior or senior
Complete an application form (submitted by September 18th)
We are looking for 15-20 mentors for our first group. All accepted mentors will be trained by Ms. Cameron before the start. We will begin reaching out to potential mentors soon via email. After mentors are selected, a form will be sent out for mentee’s to apply. Eligible mentee’s must be in either the 9th or 10th grade. Please email us at co2021@cmitsouth.org for more information.

Greetings Families
I welcome all of my students and their families to another exciting school year.
I have shared my syllabus with all of my students in the class last week. My goal for each of my student is to learn and be successful this school year. Although we are learning in a virtual environment, the ability of our scholars to learn and be successful should not be hindered by the pandemic.
Class rules, procedures, expectations, and consequences were communicated with the students during the first week. I believe that they have shared that information with you.
I can be reached at sshah@cmitsouth.org. If there is any concern, please do not hesitate to contact me. I wish all of you a great and productive 20/21 SY.
