DISMISSAL UPDATE - SAFETY CONCERN
|
This posting is to remind all of CMIT South MS/HS dismissal procedure and ensure that our scholars' safety remains a primary concern for all.
-- Scholars not participating in after school activities are expected to be picked up immediately following dismissal. Scholars should not be left unsupervised after dismissal beyond 3:15pm. This give 15 mins grace period for traffic issues and such.
-- Advise all scholars to remain on CMIT South MS/HS property, do not encourage students to walk off the property. CMIT South MS/HS has no jurisdiction beyond its property cannot monitor students beyond the property.
-- CMIT South MS/HS staff will notify parents/students of after school activity cancellations. In the event that such communications are not received on time, students may advise the enrichment staff of this so that adjustments can be made while they wait for the rides.
CMIT South MS/HS will record late pickups on the PRS System. This data will be utilized for charges incurred monitoring students who are left by their parents past 3:15pm. Continuous and repeated incidences will attract for consequences.

WE WANT YOUR PICTURES FOR THE MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARBOOK!
|
Get your pictures in this year's middle school yearbook!
We would like to invite all parents, guardians, family members, and students to submit photos for this year's middle school yearbook. If you have great photos of middle school events or of you and your friends just having fun, we would like to see them! Our photographers can't be everywhere this year, so help us get as many photos as possible to create a terrific book everyone will want to have. The more pictures we have, the better chance of seeing yourself and your friends in the yearbook! We want photos of sporting events, school events (Hispanic Heritage, Talent Show, school dances, Black History Celebration, etc.), and casual group photos too (you can keep the selfies though!).
We have two ways to submit photos this year and they can be submitted from now until the end of April, so upload after each event you attend throughout the year. See below and the attachments for instructions on how to use either site.
Option 1: ReplayIt Site
On this site, you can upload any school-related photos off your phone or Facebook to a school-wide photo sharing site. This allows any member of the school community to see pictures of all the things happening at school this year. Directions for setting up a ReplayIt account are attached below.
Option 2: Private Upload
If you'd rather not share your photos to the entire school community site, you can upload them strictly for yearbook use.
Here is how you can submit photos privately:
• Go to: https://images.memoryebooks.com/login
• If it does not automatically log you into the site, enter username: 411443695
• Browse to select the photo(s) you wish to upload.
• Enter information about the photo and provide contact information in case the staff needs additional information.
• Click "Save Details".
It's that easy..submit your photos today! Remember, the last day to submit photos is April 22nd, but don't wait...do it today and keep submitting as the year goes!!
**(We will review all photos and determine final yearbook content. We cannot guarantee that all submissions can be used in the book.)

Indoor Soccer Club
|
The soccer club is a organization whose purpose is to develop individual and team soccer excellence in order to compete at the highest level each individual and team is capable. Club's, organized with the right intentions, can provide your participant with more than you or they know about; soccer training, reputation, resources, preparation for high school/college soccer, coaching education, parent education and much more. CMIT-South soccer club serves a greater purpose over that of an individual team or even the individual player. We want to empower our participants with the knowledge about soccer skills, tactics, strategies and its rules.

Character Education
|
Dear Family:
Teen smoking has become an epidemic in our society. Children are starting to experiment with tobacco at younger ages than ever before. In order to combat this alarming trend, schools have begun to participate in smoking prevention programs.
Your child has been studying smoking information in school. Today in class your scholar actually participated in experiments that demonstrated how smoking causes emphysema and what happens to the heart of a person who smokes. The class also saw what happens to the lungs if they smoke a cigarette. You might want to ask your child about these experiments.
As a parent, you can begin now to help prevent your child from smoking in the future. Contact agencies such as the American Lung Association, the American Cancer Society and/or the American Heart Association to find out if they are offering any workshops for parents and children.
Most importantly, children whose parents smoke are more likely to become smokers. If you smoke and have ever tried to quit, you can share this with your child. You might want to consider smoking only when your child is not around or leaving the room to smoke.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation and support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Sullivan-Willians
Senior Certified Life-Skills/Character Education Educator
Lesson Goals: To empower and familiarize students with the many different kinds of tobacco products and teach them the attitudes, norms and laws about smoking in this country are changing.
Major Objectives:
* Compare the different types of tobacco products.
* Identify ways that smoking laws are changing.
* Identify facts about the effects of smoking (short-term & long-term).
* Discuss reasons people choose to smoke or not smoke.
Vocabulary:
* Nicotine
* Side-stream smoke
* Second hand smoke
* Emphysema
* Cancer
Both the immediate and long term effects of smoking are harmful to a smoker's health and well-being.
