WHAT A STRONG START!!!
|
We have made it through the first month of school, we do still have eight months to go and much work to be done. We had unprecedented attendance during the Back to School Nights and PTO Meetings. We have also had impressive attendance to the Parent Breakfast. I want to thank our students, staff and parent for a strong start to the school year. We hope to maintain this momentum. In order to continue to ensure success for your scholars, please help by doing the following:
-- Check Edmodo often to track student work and progress
-- Communicate frequently with teacher via email
-- If further help is needed, escalate to grade level administrator for help
-- Provide the space and time for your scholar to complete their assignments
-- Encourage further studying
Thank you and I wish us all a successful school year.

NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN - UPDATE
|
As promised, CMIT South MS/HS tested out three drop off and pick up lanes instead of two starting on Monday 09/24/2018. The implementation on this new pattern has been successful so far. In the coming days, the lanes will be stripped and cones removed. Please continue to help this improvement process by observing the following:
-- Do not arrive at the school way ahead of time, arrive at school close to dismissal time. This removes the accumulation of traffic for extended periods of time and the inconveniences to our business neighbors.
-- While in line waiting to get into the lot pull as far over to the right as you can so the people who work or are making deliveries in this area can still get by. We are sharing the roads with them and attempting to get everyone where they need to go.
-- Pull all the way up in lane as you wait for your child, this allows more vehicles off the street.
-- Do not block the road in front of the school or businesses, both while trying to get into the parking lot or by parking in the fire lane out front. This makes it harder for everyone to drive respectfully. Leave room for vehicles to get by or into the various parking lots.
-- The transport vans/buses are parking in the alley behind the school and they should be the only ones back there. If you child rides a transport bus have them proceed to the vans/buses as soon as they are able. Students should not be boarding Vans/buses on the street.
-- Advise all scholars to remain on CMIT South MS/HS property, do not encourage students to walk off the property. CMIT South MS/HS has no jurisdiction beyond its property cannot monitor students beyond the property.
-- Appreciate the efforts of those who are volunteering to help by being respectful and following the traffic pattern.

HIGH SCHOOL SGA Class Officer Application 2018-2019
|
Thank you for your interest in running for Student Government/Class Officer. Student Government/Class Officers represent the student body of Chesapeake Math and IT Academy South High School and must be responsible, hard-working and of good character. Working with the Sponsors of SGA, this association demonstrates leadership by organizing and completing many activities on campus (dances, spirit week, community service projects, etc.). Students interested in serving as an officer of SGA must be willing to commit their time and efforts in this endeavor. Students who have jobs or other conflicts, and those wishing to take leadership merely for a college application, are not encouraged to apply. For those students that want to work to make a significant difference in their high school, it is a rewarding and challenging experience. With that said, if you meet the criteria described, we encourage you to take an active role in your school by running for Student Government/Class officer. It is a fun and rewarding experience with lessons that will benefit you for a lifetime.
The application is posted in RELA Edmodo and on this post. A hard (paper) copy will be due October 5th to Mr. Wassam in room 334.

Classroom Technology Help Pt2 - Google
|
Hello All!
As the year continues I want to continue to share some helpful videos, while they do not have sound, they show how to access all the important features we will use in class. I will be posting a student and parent version of the videos. The student versions will be much longer and show more features as they are the ones who will be doing the work, but I will always be willing to answer questions to the best of my ability.
This series will be focused on Google and more specifically Google Docs. Along with that, it even shows students how to make a copy of a document to their google drive and how to download it as a PDF or Word to upload to Edmodo for submission. I will upload more Google help as I make the videos.
Disclaimer: The codes and emails provided in the video are just for demonstration and will not be active emails or groups.
Again, I am willing to answer any question to the best of my ability and will post more help videos as I make them.
Get ready for a great year!
