High School Science Updates
Welcome back families!
I hope everyone enjoyed the break. I wanted to provide a few updates on the coming weeks and what to expect for the finals and final projects.

Biology:
Next week we will start Unit 7, the last unit before the HSA test on May 22nd. I will also assign a final project, instead of a final test to Biology students. The project will require students to draw on learning experiences from the entire year and apply them to novel situations. This will be due after the HSA and will count for multiple assessment grades.

The HSA will be counted in the gradebook as an assessment, and we will review leading up to the test, following Unit 7. Following the HSA, we will begin to cover body systems, or chemistry (student choice).

Chemistry:
Students will finish Chapter 17 by Friday, and review on Monday. Tuesday (5/2) will be the Unit 6 test on Chapters 14 and 17. I am currently writing the test and will have the study guide ready by Friday.

After the Unit 6 test, Chemistry will continue forward with Unit 7 and Unit 8 to close the year. Chemistry students will not have an HSA or State Assessment, but will have a final assessment for the year. It will be a cumulative final, however students will be able to have one, one-sided equation bank they can use during the test. Students will also need a calculator for the final.

The tentative plan is to give the final the first week in June, so the week from May 30th to June 2nd. Following that, we will look at introductory Physics, since that is the next science for Chemistry students.

General Reminders:
As always, continue to check Edmodo and SchoolMax for updates and assignments.

Feel free to email me with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Welcome back, get ready for a fast paced last month or so, and have a great week!
