In order to foster improved communications within our school….we now have University Parent Representatives in addition to both Middle School and High School Reps that you can address your questions or concerns directly. Over the next few weeks more names will be posted to the listing. UPCOMING EVENTS

Field Trip
|
The Technology Department will be sponsoring a field trip to Ripley's Believe it or not! in Baltimore, MD. The tentative date is Friday, February 17th. We need chaperones to help. Note: Chaperone's must be fingerprinted 14 days prior to the trip to be eligible. Please contact myself (msonnier@cmitsouth.org) or Ms. Gearheart about having fun with us.
We will have access to all three activities - odditorium, maze of mirrors and the 4D show. There are over 10 places to eat with your group. The goal is to be on the road by 8:30am and return by 4:00pm.

SGA's Middle School Winter Dance and Social!
|
Thursday February 9th 2017 6:30- 9:00pm
This activity is open to: All 6-8 grade Students who maintained a PRS point balance above or equal to -15 SIS from January 3rd to February 3rd 2017.
Students will have the opportunity for social activity in the school cafeteria. Pizza will be provided free of charge, and Soda/ Candy/ Chips will be available for purchase for $0.50-$1.00. A DJ will be hired and the cafeteria decorated.
Tickets $5 in advance $7 at the door
Attire: Comfortable and Casual

Talent Show Auditions!

Are you interested in performing in CMIT South's Middle School Talent Show? SGA is hosting tryouts for the show in on Feb 16th and 17th. If you would like to try out, sign up here! http://tinyurl.com/CMIT-S-Talent-2017Exceptional acts will be invited to callbacks on Feb 23rd, and then a panel will decide on the 12 lucky acts who will be invited to compete for prizes such as a google chromebook, gift cards and more at our talent show on Friday March 17th. Any talent is acceptable! In the past we have had instrumental, vocal, acting, comedy, magicians, dance, martial arts, and more!

- There is no required work for students over winter break
- There is an extra credit opportunity for students over break- it is an essay. The assignment and grading rubric are on edmodo, please turn this in as a .PDF on edmodo.
- Students Presentation Tri-Fold Boards are due on Friday January 6th. Incentive points for turning these in early, as well as turn in procedures and a grading rubric were e-mailed to all of you on Tuesday.
- I will be out of the office beginning at noon, Friday December 23rd. Prior to this I will post the PBA grades, but not all Research Paper grades. I will not be grading anything or responding to e-mails again until 1.3.16

8th Grade RELA Extra Credit and January Book of the Month...
|
Winter Break 2016/2017 Extra Credit Project Due: January 4, 2017 Part 1: Family Tree Research your family’s history. Create a family tree or chart that goes back as many generations as possible on both your mother and father’s side. Part 2: Interview Interview a grandparent or someone from your family who is older than your parents. Ask them questions about your family’s history, such as: a. Where were they born? b. Where have they lived? (towns/cities and states/countries) c. What significant/important events occurred in their lives? d. What significant/important objects does the family own? e. Who were powerful influences in this person’s life? f. What lessons would they like to impart to younger generations? g. How would they like to be remembered? h. Any other comments or anything else they want to share Part 3: Poem Write a poem that includes as many aspects of the answers to the interview as possible. Think about including the Who, What, Where, Why, When, and How. Your poem should be at least 20 lines long. (It does not have to rhyme.)
Your January Book of the Month is "1984" by George Orwell.

What is the Uniform Policy?
The uniform policy can be found on our website, under Students tab.How do we order uniform items?Uniform items can be ordered by completing the online order form: http://www.glenburnie.minutemanpress.com/cmit/welcome.htmlDo I have to purchase uniforms from this vendor?No, however, uniforms purchased from other vendors must have 100% identical color tone and the CMIT South logo. The current uniform vendor provides donation to the CMIT South PTO based on sales. Each uniform purchase from Minuteman Press is contribution to the school.
What is CMIT's Daily Schedule?7:35- 7:45am:- Student arrival (drop off is at the side entrance)- Doors close at 7:45am (after 7:45am parents need to sign late students in at the Front Office)7:35 - 7:57am:- Homeroom (Breakfast is available during this time until 7:50am)8:00am - 2:49pm for 6th grade and 2:54 for 7th grade: - Academic instruction2:49/2:54 - 3:05 pm: Student pick-up outside (Students who are not picked up by 3:10pm will be waiting outside for their ride. There is no adult supervision for these students during this time).Clubs and enrichment activities will begin immediately following dismissal. All club/enrichment participants must report directly to the cafeteria. Students who continuously fail to report directly to their designated locations will lose the privilege to participate in any after school activities. How do I pay for my child's lunch?Breakfast and lunch are served every day. You can add money to your child's account by visiting this link. You can also pay by cash or money order in the cafeteria. Can my child bring their own lunch to school?Students can bring a lunch from home. Lunches can be stored in the student's locker. Microwaves are available in the cafeteria to warm food.
