PSAT 8/9 and PSAT/NMSQT Scores have been posted!
Students who took the PSAT 8/9 or PSAT/NMSQT in October can now view their scores online! To view your scores, go to Collegeboard.org and sign in. Your scores should link to your account. If they do not, you will need to wait for the paper reports to get your specific access code. Paper reports have not been delivered to the HS yet. If you have not already created an account, you will need to do that by clicking Sign Up on the sign in page. -Keys things when creating your account: 1. Do not use your CMIT or PGCPS email. You should use your personal email so you will always have access to this account. 2. Our school name is Chesapeake Math and IT Public Charter. Make sure to click on the correct name with our correct address (14800 Sweizter Lane, Laurel, MD). Can CMIT help you with your Collegeboard account? No, we cannot. If you are having issues, you need to contact Collegeboard.

HS BREAKING NEWS
REMINDER: Bullying Prevention Poetry Contest
Remember, the Bullying Prevention Poetry Contest ends Thursday December 23, 2021. As students write their poems, address the topic questions: why is bullying a problem? What is the solution? One of the major problems with bullying is that it involves a lack of empathy for others' experiences. If we stop and wonder, "how would I feel if someone did this to me?" would we be just as quick to injure someone or inflict pain on others; pain of any kind: psychological, physical, or emotional? On many occasions, adults have said, "think before you act;" let's try to practice the wisdom in those words to prevent bullying from entering our school culture. Here is a sample poem written by Mr. Conde that identifies why bullying is a problem and a possible solution: Into Another’s Shoe Don’t you enjoy being ridiculed, made a fool, being ruled? Don’t you live for the thrill of the shrill leaving you feeling nil? Isn’t it pure bliss when you hear the hiss of your “friends” speaking amiss? Isn’t it nice to get used to being abused and refuse to be loosed of it all? Why do you say that you would rather be respected than rejected? Why do you say that you would prefer to feel dignified than discarded and cast aside? Oh I see, it’s only human to want kindness and love. Yet again, I see, it’s only human to expect goodness and grace. How much better would it be to show empathy, compassion and generosity? How much better would it sound to see all around nothing by kindness abound? Let’s put out and shout all about the very thing we want others to bring. Let’s create a place that demonstrates actions that liberate instead of subjugate. Do unto others as you want to be done unto you. It only makes sense when we step into another’s shoe. By Mr. Conde

ALGEBRA 1 Parents- Teachers Productive Collaborative Meeting
The Tutoring and Academic Services of CMIT (CTAS) thanks to all parents who put so much effort into joining the collaborative meeting last Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 6:30 pm. We believe that we are united in our goal to help our scholars pass Algebra. Algebra is the essential math to survive all other Math courses that our students will conquer in the future. Our team works above and beyond to help incorporate strategies and partnerships to deliver the best service possible and help our students conquer challenges in the classroom. Rest assured that CMIT listens to parents to help our students. We also want to ask parents to continue to sustain their children. In addition, the tutoring team is preparing for virtual home visits (In progress for admin approval), as requested by parents, to hear your effective concern to assist students "passing Algebra 1".

CLUBS and PROGRAMS
Pandemic Response for Team Illusion
PG County's Decision to try to thwart the pandemic using a two-week quarantine period makes things a bit harder for the team, but we have done so much already I think we will be able to weather the storm. Last week we put our experiment station out for preliminary tests and are quite happy with the results. Some of us will be attending the kickoff for the new FRC competition on the 8th of January at Capitol Technology University. The same day we will be able to participate in a scrimmage match for the Vex Robotics Competition, provided we can figure out how to put together a competition robot while not being able to attend school in person.
