BREAKING NEWS
2018-2019 Public Charter School Lottery
The PGCPS Charter School Lottery Timeline for the 2018-2019 school year is open from Nov. 01, 2017 - Jan. 26, 2018. The deadline to apply for the 2018-2019 school year is fast approaching. All Prince George's County families can apply to a public charter school as there are no attendance boundaries. Interested families must complete an online lottery application by the deadline for each child they wish to enroll.

PGCPS gives lottery preference to new students who already have a sibling in the school. Siblings must live in the same household, have the same responsible parent/guardian, and both siblings must be enrolled at the charter school for the 2018-2019 school year. Families must submit a valid online application by the deadline to be eligible for sibling preference. Sibling preference is based on seat availability and is never a guarantee.

To submit a PGCPS Charter School Lottery Application click: http://lottery.pgcps.org/.

ITEC Applications Released Soon
Dear 8th Grade Families:

Are you interested in ITEC? It is time to apply!

ITEC stands for Information Technology Early College program. The program operates in partnership with Prince George's Community College and offers 8th grade CMIT students who are self-driven, have a strong work ethic and have a profound interest in information technology an opportunity to earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Information Technology by the time they graduate high school.

On January 29th, Ms. Gaudette and I will be visiting the middle school to talk about academic opportunities available to 8th grade students when they enter the 9th grade at CMIT. During this presentation, students will learn more about the ITEC program and have a chance to pick up an application to Prince George's Community College. The completion of this application is the first step in applying for entry into the ITEC program. (Other steps may include writing samples, teacher recommendations, and interviews.)

Applications will be due February 9th. Students should return their application to Ms. Spence in the middle school front office.

Feel free to contact me with questions at tcolandrea@cmitacademy.org

HS Uniform Clarification
Hi, CMIT Families:

We continue to have difficulties with students coming to class out of uniform. With your help, we can reduce the amount of time students are missing instruction while these issues are addressed. The most common infractions are below. Please take a moment to review them with your student.

- CMIT polos in purple or gold and khaki or navy blue bottoms are required daily with the exceptions listed below. IMPORTANT NOTE: Tops with hoods are NEVER permitted.
-- Spirit wear may be worn on Mondays and Fridays only. Spirit wear must be issued by CMIT and bear a CMIT logo. Examples include Class of XX shirts and items purchased through the PTO FanCloth Sale. Spirit wear items must conform to the PGCPS/CMIT Dress Down policy.
-- Seniors may wear their Class of 2018 tops daily.
-- Athletes may wear game day jerseys/track suits on game day as instructed by their coaches.
-- PE uniforms (including tops) may only be worn on gym days. (There are no gym classes until second semester.)

- No tops with hoods. This is true whether the garment is a CMIT garment or not. This is true whether it is a dress down day or not.

- Outerwear (other than CMIT windbreakers, fleeces and sweatshirts) may not be worn in the building at any time.

- No Crocs, slides, flip flops, slippers at any time.

This list is not all-inclusive but highlights some of the most common infractions. Please visit the CMIT website for the full uniform policy and reach out to administration if you have questions.

Respectfully,

HS Administration

HS Parking Update
We are still in the process of addressing student parking. Until students have been issued parking permits, we are requesting that they continue to park in the middle school parking lot. We are learning of more and more students parking in the high school parking lot, which is posing an issue for teachers who arrive later in the day and guests who are invited for special meetings and events. Students who are found to be parking in the high school parking lot may be towed.

As soon as spaces are painted and numbered at the elementary school, we will begin to issue parking permits so students can park there.

We appreciate your patience and prompt response to this request.

Respectfully,
CMIT Administration
