BREAKING NEWS
Cold and Flu Season
As the temperature changes and we move into winter, please be mindful of the policy PGCPS has on sick children. It is important for students to be in school and learning, but students need to be healthy to participate in the learning process. We know it can be difficult to determine if your child is well enough to attend school or not, so PGCPS has compiled a list of when to keep your child home from school. Please refer to the picture above when you feel that your child is showing signs of illness AND consult with your Primary Care Physician to determine if your child is too ill to attend school.

Craft Club Website by Rochelle Rochester (AUBURN)

Eighth grade student, Rochelle Rochester, from Auburn started to create a website for our Craft Club which is taking place at CMIT Middle School on Thursdays. She is using her HTML & CSS knowledge, which she started to learn last year during our technology class. Every week, she is updating our website according to craft projects that we have been doing. I would like to thank her for the hard work and dedication that she is showing for this website. Also, I am hoping to see the same success this year with Python programming language as well. Pictures are from the website that she started to create.

Senior Advertisements | More Spots Made Available!
Dear Parents of Seniors,

Congratulations on your child beginning his or her senior year at Chesapeake Math and IT Academy North High School! Before you know it, they will have graduated from here and will be on their way to college. What better way to congratulate them on this major accomplishment than by purchasing a Senior Advertisement?

Each senior ad is in full color and is designed to be a one-of-a-kind memory. We will combine cherished, and possibly embarrassing photographs with your message of congratulations, love, and support to create a completely personalized ad design. Some parents choose to keep their ad a surprise until yearbooks are handed out. Just indicate that the ad is secret and only those on the yearbook staff will know!

This year, time is of the essence and we will only be able to accept ad reservations until Monday, December 18, 2017 or until the spaces run out. We have already sold out of space once and decided opened up an additional page due to request, so please make sure to get your reservations in soon to guarantee your spot!

The sizes and prices are as follows:

$70 for a ½ page ad. For this size, we highly recommend a maximum of 5 photographs and up to 75 words. If you submit less photos, you can include a longer message, up to 125 words.

$40 for a ¼ page ad. For this size, we highly recommend a maximum of 2 photographs and up to 50 words. If you submit less photos, you can include a longer message, up to 75 words.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Environmental Science Test
Environmental Science students will take a test on Evolution, Natural Selection, Populations, Biomass, Invasive Species, Food Webs, Symbiosis, and Primary/Secondary Succession on Monday and Tuesday.

Study your vocabulary and realize most of the material on this test was covered more deeply back in Biology. Therefore, much of this test is on review material, which students should already feel some familiarity.

Students at the Chess Championship in Orlando will be permitted to make the test up upon their return.

Anatomy & Physiology students will have a test on the eye this week. We will then begin the ear.

MS TEACHER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Alcohol: Myths and Realities
During the month of December, your scholar(s) shall be empower with information about alcohol to counter common myths and misconceptions.

Alcohol is a drug and, like other drugs which fall into the category of depressants, it slows the functioning of the brain and nervous system.

Although about 70% of all adults drink, most do so only occasionally and in moderation.

One-third of adults do not drink at all.

Only a small minority of adults are problem drinkers.

Alcohol cannot make a person stronger, smart, cute, sexy, powerful, tough, rich, etc.

Drinking alcohol is not an effective way of coping with one's problems:in fact, it just adds to them.

Being able to "hold one's liquor" has nothing to do with being tough or cool.

Drinking alcohol does not help a person to sleep better.

Getting drunk or being a heavy drinker isn't cool or grown-up.

It is illegal for junior and senior high school students. (Bring into play and/or summarizing state and local laws).

Most schools have some kind of alcohol and drug education grogram.

Sincerely,
Dr. Sullivan-Williams, Ph.D. (a.k.a. Dr. BB)
