BREAKING NEWS
8th Grade Promotion: June 16th
Dear 8th Grade Parents,

We know you are as excited as we are to recognize our 8th graders as they make the transition from middle school to high school. This year's promotion ceremony will be on Thursday, June 16th at 1:30 pm in the CSP gymnasium.

Each student will receive two tickets for family members to attend the event. During the week of June 6th, additional tickets will be available for purchase for $5.00. The number of tickets that may be purchased will be subject to availability.

8th graders will be asked to attend school during the day on June 16th, where they will celebrate their last day of middle school with a dance, cake, pizza, and other fun activities. Students are expected to arrive at school dressed for the promotion with dressy attire. Students should avoid jeans, sneakers and other casual items. Boys should wear dress pants and collared shirts, and girls should wear dresses or skirts. Skirts and dresses should be at least knee length and strapless tops are forbidden.

If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Ingulia at tingulia@mycsp.org.

Thank you,
Mrs. Ingulia

CSP's 3rd Graduating Class
Congratulations to CSP's 3rd graduating class! The class of 2016 walked across the stage on May 31st congratulated by friends, family, staff, and distinguished guests from Anne Arundel County and CLF. The Honorable Julie Hummer, member of Anne Arundel County's Board of Education, addressed the class offering practical advice for how to conduct themselves in the "real world" including doing their own laundry and hand-writing thank you notes. Mr. Hakki Karaman, CEO of Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation, reiterated The Honorable Hummer's sentiments and added to the list of practical advice. Salutatorian, Kyle Yamaguchi offered the advice of not putting off to tomorrow what you can do today and Valedectorian, Yemi Oyemade, praised how CSP, his friends, family, and God has helped him become the person he is today. Kyle is on his way to the University of Maryland to study Chemical Engineering and Yemi will attend Ivy League, Cornell, in the fall.
The ceremony concluded with cake and refreshments in the cafeteria with plenty of opportunities for pictures, hugs, laughs, and tearful good-byes. Each student received a goody bag with a card signed by all of the teachers and a disk of the senior photo-montage. The young ladies also received a vase of flowers and the young men received a pen set as they exited the stage with their diploma in hand.

A big Kudos to Mrs. Porter for organizing and handling the decorations for the Graduation Ceremony. The gym looked beautiful. Thank you also to Ms. Yamaguchi, Mrs. Dye, and Mrs. Davis for coming in to help with the decorating. Everyone's help is greatly appreciated.

Senior Parade
After finishing up Graduation practice and changing into thier college T-shirts (CSP bought each graduate a T-shirt for the college they committed to for the fall), this graduating class was in for a surprise. While these events were taking place, the rest of the school, the remainder of the high school students and middle school students were lining the halls with signs of congratulations and confetti to give their senior class a farewell to remember. When the music started to play over the intercom, the unsuspecting seniors lined up in college Ts and graduation caps and paraded through CSP's halls greeted by cheering students and faculty. They had no idea that this was coming and took several off guard resulting in tears of nostalgia and joy. It was a great experience for everyone involved. Perhaps CSP has found a new tradition!

Summer School
The 2016 Summer School schedules are available at http://www.aacps.org/html/instr/evening/booklet.pdf.
Remember, CSP is an E-Free School, so if a student fails a class, the student must make up the class outside of CSP. Summer School is a great way to do that. If your student failed a class in the first semester, you should have received an email explaining Summer School procedures. If your student fails a class in the second semester, you will receive an email after final grades come out.
