Visitors Must Have Appointment
Given that we remain in a pandemic and our focus must be on the instruction of our students, visitors to our school will be permitted only on a limited basis and only by appointment. We ask that families and community members work with us to help fulfill our main goal: to keep the school open and fully functioning in the safest manner possible throughout the school year. ● If you need to schedule an appointment and are unsure whom to contact, please email Ms. Obrien AOBRIEN@MYCSP.ORG, and she will assist you. As much as we miss you all visiting the building, we are unable to honor that request at this time. ● If you are visiting the building, you must park in a parking space. Please do not park on the curb outside the main entrance.

Interested in STEM? Check out Colorado School of Mines
Hi CSP Students, I received this email from the Executive Director of Admissions at Colorado School of Mines. I wasn't familiar with this school, but I have done just a bit of investigating and they have very interesting programs that you may want to check out. I shared his email below: I hope this email finds you well as you navigate another challenging school year. If you have students interested in pursuing a college degree in STEM-related fields, I encourage you and your students to explore Colorado School of Mines. https://www.mines.edu/ At Mines, we do more than focus on science and engineering. We inspire students who are driven to be innovators and advance the knowledge of those who want to address today’s greatest challenges, particularly those related to the Earth, energy and the environment. From applied math and statistics to quantum engineering and so much in between, our students have hands-on experiences from day one and graduate with an average starting salary of over $73,000. Additionally, Mines is a test-optional university. All applications will receive equal consideration in our holistic admissions and merit scholarships review process - with or without test scores. We also accept unofficial transcripts for our review process to help lessen the load on you and your colleagues. Our regular admissions deadline is January 15 and we have rolling admissions thereafter. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions. Go Orediggers! Dale Gaubatz Executive Director of Admissions

Men's College Scholarship
Apply for $50,000 in scholarships to be awarded this spring Men’s College Scholarship Men are going to college with less frequency than in the past, and not persisting to graduation at the same rates as women. According to The Wall Street Journal, at the close of the 2020-21 academic year, women made up 59.5% of college students, an all-time high, and men 40.5%, according to enrollment data from the National Student Clearinghouse, a nonprofit research group. U.S. colleges and universities had 1.5 million fewer students compared with five years ago, and men accounted for 71% of the decline. Men are choosing paths other than college. To counter this trend, a diverse group of fraternity alumni founded the Men’s College Scholarship Program which will award $50,000 in scholarships this year to inspire college attendance and academic success by young men. The scholarship is designed to identify and reward outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated an ability to excel in the fields of academics, extra-curricular school activities and community involvement. The scholarship is available to any male, graduating senior from an accredited high school who is enrolling in a four-year undergraduate college program that commences in the fall. The scholarship is awarded through the Foundation for Fraternal Excellence, a registered 501(c)3 organization. Current or future membership in a fraternity is not required. https://foundationfe.org/highschoolscholarship/

8th Grade News
Attention eighth grade parents/guardians: Chesapeake Science Point and Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) have a partnership for the Early College Access Program (ECAP), allowing students to take college courses while in high school. CSP also has a unique partnership where selected students work toward a college Associate Degree throughout high school, earning 60 college credits through AACC classes and AP credits. Candidates for this very selective program are considered during the spring of students’ eighth grade year at CSP. Administrators, counselors, and teachers review student data and discuss individual student ability to complete college level and AP courses. AACC requires a strict limit of 22 students for this program, making it extremely selective. The selection procedures will begin in February and parent contact will take place once the review process is completed. Students and families do not need to request consideration for this program, all eighth-grade students will be reviewed and considered for the Associate Degree program. Students who are not chosen for the selective Associate Degree program are still eligible to take individual AACC courses through the ECAP program. These opportunities are usually possible in students’ junior and senior years.
