Great News! The 2022-2023 Chesapeake Science Point Application opened at noon on October 11, 2021, and closes at noon on November 22, 2021. All students must apply to the lottery except current CSP students. All siblings of current students must submit an application. Once the application opens, the link to complete it is on the Anne Arundel County Public Schools website (www.aacps.org), and you can access it by clicking on Schools, then Charter/Contract Schools, and scrolling down the page. We will provide a link on our website to the application once it opens. There will be one more virtual open house event if you want to learn more about Chesapeake Science Point. Parents/guardians, Make-up Picture Day for grades 6-11 is November 17. You have the option to order online by visiting mylifetouch.com and typing in the Picture Day Code: EVTD24QST Uniform for Picture Day: In the past, students were required to wear their white Oxford shirts to be photographed for the yearbook. This year, because of our unique circumstances with uniforms, students will be allowed to wear their white Oxford or their CSP polo shirt. We will no longer lend out shirts or ties to students to be photographed for the yearbook. That practice has been discontinued.

Hi CSP Parents, Please see below regarding details on Chesapeake Science Point's NO REPEAT policy. If you have questions and/or concerns regarding this matter, please reach out to your child's school counselor. CSP continues to provide a rigorous and quality education to all students. It has always been our goal to improve upon past practices, find new ways to engage students and make learning something students enjoy. We also believe that high school students need to put forth that same effort in order to become successful adults; therefore, CSP is Repeat Free. If a student receives an E in a required high school course, the class will have to be repeated in an alternate program such as summer school, evening school and twilight school. These programs are available for students to make up credits in courses that they were not successful in the first time; classes at CSP are for students taking them for original credit. If a student does not make up the failed class in one of these alternative programs, there is a chance that we will not be able to schedule the student for the classes required for graduation and the student will have to take classes at CSP for more than four years.

Mr. Van Dyke, our representative from Jostens, met with 11th and 12th-grade students this morning. Mr. Van Dyke shared information on ordering class rings, along with senior items such as cap and gowns and graduation announcements. Students were given order forms to take home to parents, and Mr. Van Dyke will return on Wednesday, October 27, during B and C lunch to collect those orders. The QR code will be shared with parents/students soon to place orders online. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Parents/guardians, Anne Arundel County high schools have started collecting class dues again this year. Please see the attached schedule of payments for each grade level. We haven't collected in the past two years because of Covid, so you will only pay the amount for the grade level of your student this year. We will not be collecting for past years. There are several two-hour early dismissals and late arrival days worked into the calendar this year. On two-hour early dismissal days, all car riders will exit the school building no later than 1:05 pm. Parents must pick their children up on time as there will be no supervision outside. The two-hour early dismissals are typically planned so that staff can participate in professional development. On two-hour late arrival days, all car riders are to be dropped off between 10:00-10:15 am. Students are to be in class in their seats and ready to start the day at 10:20 am. There is a copy of the two-hour late arrival and early dismissal schedules attached for your reference.

Hi Juniors & Seniors! It’s no secret that most college applications require you to submit your SAT or ACT score, making taking the exam an absolute must. In addition to it being a requirement, colleges and universities receive thousands of applications every year. The scores on the SAT and ACT allow them to narrow down the playing field and make decisions on acceptance. In addition to your college applications, your SAT and ACT scores can be used to apply for scholarships. These are sometimes merit based scholarships, granted directly from your choice of college during the application process. Others may be from local, state, or regional programs where your grades, academic achievements, and score affect your eligibility. We wanted to stress the importance of taking the SAT and/or ACT more than once. Studies show that students typically receive a higher score the second time they sit for the test. It would be most beneficial to take the SAT and/or ACT your junior year, then again your senior year. If you receive free or reduced lunch, you qualify for a fee waiver. The counselors have them available in their offices. Please see attachment for 2021-22 testing dates. You may register for the SAT on collegeboard.org.
