We the Students Scholarship Essay Contest - Deadline for Entry is April 15, 2021
|
2021 We the Students Essay Contest
Essay Prompt: What is the relationship between Equality and Justice?
Answering this question requires considering each of these principles and analyzing the relationship between them.
To truly explore this question in an essay that is between 500 -800 words, you’ll need to go beyond "dictionary definitions," and express your understanding and reasoning about the connection between these two principles. This reasoning involves a combination of observation, experience, and some pretty "big ideas." What does it take to understand them? To build toward and maintain them? To see them with regard to each other? Why is this relationship important?
We encourage you to bring emotion, creativity, specific examples, and well-researched facts into what you write. A good essay will demonstrate how equality and justice are not just abstract ideas but are part of the actions and choices of people every day.
We genuinely want to know how you would answer the question – what is the relationship between Equality and Justice?
For more information and to sign up, please visit the following link.

Deadline for entry is April 15, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

Yearbook Photos Needed - Please Read!
|
Hello CSP community!
This form is being sent on behalf of the yearbook team. This year has presented new challenges for getting pictures of our students for the yearbook. As a member of this community, if you have any pictures of students that you believe may be appropriate for the yearbook, please send them in through this form. We would love to have pictures of students starting this past summer all the way up to now. Images of students celebrating events, participating in a sports team or club, virtually or in person, participating in classes virtually, or seeing friends virtually or in person are all welcome!
There is one rule that we must follow: all images taken ON SCHOOL PROPERTY of students interacting with someone that is not in their immediate family must show students wearing masks and standing at least 6 feet apart.
We are so excited to see what you have been up to!
Thank you for your help.

Repeat-Free School
|
Hi CSP Parents,
Please see below regarding details on Chesapeake Science Point's NO REPEAT policy. If you have questions and/or concerns regarding this matter, please reach out to your child's school counselor.
CSP continues to provide a rigorous and quality education to all students. It has always been our goal to improve upon past practices, find new ways to engage students and make learning something students enjoy. We also believe that high school students need to put forth that same effort in order to become successful adults; therefore, CSP is Repeat Free. If a student receives an E in a required high school course, the class will have to be repeated in an alternate program such as summer school, evening school and twilight school. These programs are available for students to make up credits in courses that they were not successful in the first time; classes at CSP are for students taking them for original credit. If a student does not make up the failed class in one of these alternative programs, there is a chance that we will not be able to schedule the student for the classes required for graduation and the student will have to take classes at CSP for more than four years.

6th,7th,8th GRADE - Around the World Photograph Project
|
Good afternoon:
Hello 6th, 7th, and 8th grade families. Now that we are back in the building I am hoping you can all help me with a little project idea I have for my classroom. On one wall of my classroom I have a map and the rest of the wall is very empty. I am hoping to fill it with pictures from around the world and use string to link the photographs to the places they are from. I was hoping that the families of my students could help supply me with photographs that they may have from their travels. Photos can be landscapes, historic areas/landmarks, interesting locals and people from the areas, and if you want they can include your family in the photo (but do not have to if you do not want).
Please consider adding your photograph to this google form or emailing me directly. If you email me a picture please include when and where the photograph was taken and which student and grade it is coming from.
Thank you so much for your help in my little side project to enhance the creativity of my classroom!!

Artificial Intelligence Program for Middle School Students
|
Inspirit programs offer a unique opportunity to middle and high school students to learn about AI early on, even without prior programming experience. By learning and building AI and working on socially impactful projects, students gain a strong understanding of the potential of AI and how it can be applied to their daily lives and future careers. We’ve been thrilled with the success of our high school program — having worked with thousands of students across the world and seen many go on to schools like Princeton and Caltech while continuing to apply AI to their endeavors. As with our high school program, our middle school offerings will be taught by a team of instructors from Stanford, MIT, and Harvard.
Students can apply now by March 31st for either program using this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdIkvaY9_n-ieHVAtB9cnjfV709gzo65sC_Xxo0U6GkmVSbQg/viewform

Senior Scholarship Opportunity
|
One of TAAAC’s functions is to assist local students in continuing their education. TAAAC does so through its Foundation for Educational Excellence which gives competitive scholarships to college-bound young people. The Foundation provides eight scholarships to local public high school students each year which are funded by members, outside donors, and occasional fundraising events. One of these is funded by TAAAC-R. In addition, there are two memorial scholarships funded through direct donations: The Robin Coleman Award for Computer Science and/or Technology, and the Samuel and Bessie Chao Memorial Book Award. Applications are distributed through all public high school counselors. The deadline to apply is March 31, 2021.
