Parents, Due to Covid, we are not collecting gift donations this year. However, we will be collecting gift cards from Amazon, Walmart, Target, and grocery stores to give to our families in need. 8th annual Maryland STEM Career Fair for Girls - December 8
All Maryland high school girls are invited to register for the 8th annual Maryland STEM Career Fair for Girls, a completely virtual event on December 8 from 6-8 PM. Please click on the link to register. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeqee-PsxKHdg5IMTEcxa3xcuKFBQE5ojjVhyE0beTAI60XVw/viewform?gxids=7757 Please register and select which sessions you're interested in attending. The sooner you register, the more likely it is that we can give you your first choice of session. The various sessions include Aerospace and Physics, Architecture and Construction, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design and User Experience, Engineering, Environmental Science and Paleontology, Life and Biological Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Recent STEM Graduates. Here are some of the organizations that will be represented at the Fair: Baltimore Museum of Art, Google, PayPal Inc, Stanley Black & Decker, McCormick Taylor, Northrop Grumman, NASA, FDA, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, National Institute on Drug Abuse, Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, CDI Labs Inc, National Institute of Health, University of Maryland School of Medicine, Firaxis Games, Zenimax Online, Vectorworks Inc, United States Naval Academy, University of Maryland Pharmacy School, Hord Coplan Macht, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, Textron Systems, Space Telescope Institute.

Student Transfers
In the event that you are transferring your child to another school, please send me an email letting me know. I will need a few days to prepare a transfer packet for you to take to the new school. Attendance
If your child misses a class, they have the opportunity to attend flex learning time and teacher office hours to make up the live lesson that they missed. The flex learning and teacher office hours must take place within 7 days of the absence. If this happens, the teacher will go back and mark the student present for the class that they missed. If the child is absent and unable to participate in flex learning and/or teacher office hours, then you will submit an absence note for your child's absence. All absence notes are being submitted via the form located on our website. CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS
Social Studies 8
The weeks before the holiday break will be dedicated to early political parties, and 2 notable figures: Hamilton and Jefferson. We'll learn about the differences in political philosophies, and try to determine our own opinions. There will be lots of student participation.

U.S. History Grade 9
The weeks before the holiday break will include an intensive exploration of the Great Depression Era. Students will supplement their knowledge with a novel study, through their English curriculum. The English and Social Studies departments are excited to provide students with an engaging, multi-disciplinary experience.
