FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
First Week's Reflection
Hello CSP families, Can you believe that we have wrapped up three weeks of school?! Where has the time gone? As we move into the fourth week of school, I would like to share with you my “first three weeks” of school reflections. The administrative team and I have visited every classroom at least once since the start of school. I am happy to say that our teachers are doing an effective job of engaging the students. We have experienced some technical difficulties. Our IT Specialist, Mr. Grantham, has worked expeditiously with the teacher to resolve those issues. While observing the classes, we see many cameras activated. We will announce to the class when recording is to take place. I cannot stress the importance of having on the camera when it comes to assisting the teacher with assessing student understanding. Often, teachers can look at a student’s facial expressions to ascertain whether a student needs additional help which prompts the teacher to call on the student. Also, if you can purchase a headset for your student, it would greatly assist with background noise reduction in the home which allows the student and teacher to hear one another more clearly. We hope that you had a pleasant experience at our Back-to-School Night events. Please take time to complete our BTSN survey. One of our School Improvement Goals is to increase the percentage of parents and students who feel connected to the school. Your input and feedback are welcomed! Please be on the look out for information about the “Conversations with the Principal” event in late October. If you have not already done so, please register for Parent Teacher Conferences on October 12th for all levels and October 13th for Middle School only. Available time slots are limited and are going fast. We look forward to seeing you then! Please stay safe and well. Respectfully, Dwight L. Jefferson Principal

Senior Portraits - It's a Go! - Friday, October 9, 2020
AACPS recently released a message stating that schools are allowed to move forward with allowing senior portraits to take place within the school building. CSP's senior portrait date was rescheduled for October 9, 2020. When I reached out Prestige (Lifetouch) about how the process of notification and scheduling will work, I received the following message: Senior portraits have been confirmed for October 9, 2020. Students will receive appointment cards in the mail 2 weeks prior to our arrival. Please note, we have adopted a new scheduling process to help with social distancing and crowd control, per CDC protocol. The students are asked to log onto the PrestigePortraits.com website to "self-schedule" their appointment. The appointment cards have a date range listed when we will be at the school. The student then uses their unique ID number to log onto PrestigePortraits.com to select a date/time convenient for them.

Please look over the following information and get the form turned in to us if you haven't done so already. We need a form turned in for every student that attends CSP. Attendance
If your child misses a class, they have the opportunity to attend flex learning time and teacher office hours to make up the live lesson that they missed. The flex learning and teacher office hours must take place within 7 days of the absence. If this happens, the teacher will go back and mark the student present for the class that they missed. If the child is absent and unable to participate in flex learning and/or teacher office hours, then you will submit an absence note for your child's absence. All absence notes are being submitted via the form located on our website.
