Our mock drill today went very well and was a great exercise to prepare us should the need ever arise to act quickly in such an emergency. I want to thank our students and staff for the outstanding way in which they handled this exercise, and thank you for the conversations you had with your children leading up to it.

Friday A / B Schedules
|
Parents,
As you are aware, we do not have a set pattern for Fridays. It appears like they rotate, but actually sometimes there are two even three Fridays in a row that are A days. We do this to make sure there are an even number of A and B days in each quarter.
I have attached a copy of the Friday A/B schedule.

ENGINEERING COURSE AT JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY
|
Are you interested in pursuing a career in Engineering? There is an awesome opportunity to take a five-week summer course, Engineering Innovation, through Johns Hopkins University. More details below!
Engineering Innovation is an exciting, college-level, summer program for motivated high school students with an aptitude in math and science and an interest in (or curiosity about) engineering. This program has been available to high school students since 2006. In the program, students learn to think and problem-solve like engineers and have the opportunity to earn Johns Hopkins University credit.
By applying knowledge of math and science to labs and hands-on projects, the concepts learned in high school classrooms are linked to real-world practice. Additionally, students’ confidence grows as they attend college-level lectures, solve problems, test theories, and ultimately learn to think like engineers.
Over this four — or five—week (depending upon the site) program, students complete lab activities in civil, chemical, electrical/computer, mechanical engineering and materials science. They also prepare a presentation in response to a Request for Proposal, learn about engineering economics, write a research paper, take weekly quizzes, and complete a comprehensive final exam.
• Curriculum developed by Johns Hopkins University
• Students learn from practicing engineers about careers, internships and educational opportunities in the field
• The student to faculty ratio is 12:1 or lower
• Students with a final grade of A or B receive three Johns Hopkins University credits
• Certificates of Completion are awarded to all students who successfully complete the course

Opportunity to earn credit through Johns Hopkins University
|
Hi CSP Students & Parents! Are you interested in Biomedical Engineering? Please see below for an awesome opportunity to earn college credit through an online course from Johns Hopkins University.
Developed by Johns Hopkins faculty, Biomedical Engineering Innovation (BMEI) introduces biomedical engineering to high school students by:
• Modeling biological systems
• Designing experiments to test those models
• Introducing engineering principles to solve design problems that are biological, physiological, and/or medical.
Students will model human efficiency, the arm, and the cardiovascular system. Students are expected to apply their knowledge of math, physics and biology to solve practical problems encountered in biomedical engineering.
To be eligible for this program, you must:
• Have completed algebra 2, physics, biology, and have knowledge of the trigonometric functions
• Have A's and B's in your high school math classes
• Be a current high school student or recent graduate who has not yet started college.
BMEI is a fully online course with most elements being totally asynchronous, meaning they can be completed at your convenience within a given time period.
