2019 Black History Month Essay & Poster Contest
Dear Teachers & Students of all CLF Schools, This opportunity is available to any CLF school students. By announcing before the holiday break, we thought this would give our tigers more time to prepare for the 2019 Black History Month Essay & Poster Contest. We did so because this year’s THEME is: STUDENTS’ CHOICE!! That’s right, YOU decide. (Ask your teacher for help if you need guidance). As in year’s past, CLF will invite finalists to represent their school along with their distinguished parent(s)/guardian(s) to our 2019 Black History Month Reception. This year, we are pleased to be hosting the reception in Upper Marlboro, MD at our gorgeous CMIT South Campus. Remember, among the finalists invited, (3) winners from each division will be announced and $50 gift cards awards to each winner. Please reference the 2019 BHM Poster/flyer circulating around your school for more details & scoring rubric. Final drafts will be collected by your language arts teacher on or before January 25th. Warmest regards, Mark J. Sutherland Community Partnerships Director Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation

Gym Uniforms are Mandatory
Dear parents, It is mandatory that all students participating in PE classes be dressed in the PE uniform. The uniform policies are listed on the CSP website. If your child is not dressing in their PE uniform, it will negatively impact their grade.

CLASSROOM HAPPENINGS
Science Fair Screening
Students had a wonderful time screening Science Fair the movie on December 20th. The number one audience pick from the Sundance Film Festival, the movie follows several high school students from around the world on their quest to win ISEF. CSP is fortunate enough to have several former student participants in ISEF over the years. We hope the movie inspired some of us to follow our dreams!

Immunizations, Residency, Parent Connect
Dear Parents/Guardians, I'm starting my reminders early for 6th grade parents. All students entering the 7th grade must provide proof of receiving the tdap and MCV4 immunizations. You can fax (443-757-5280) or email me (jcalvert@mycsp.org) the updated records. When you send me the proof if immunizations, please follow up to make sure that I received them. Remember, your 7th grader must show proof before they can begin school next year. If you move to a new home, you must complete a new registration form and provide updated information. Please contact me for a list of the required documents that you will need. Only one Parent Connect account is permitted per household. The email address used to set up your account is the one that your information will be sent to. You will need to inform me if you want to change it. Once you receive your username and password, please keep this information in a safe place. Thanks, June (Registrar)
