2019 Black History Month Essay & Poster Contest
Dear Teachers & Students of all CLF Schools, This opportunity is available to any CLF school students. By announcing before the holiday break, we thought this would give our tigers more time to prepare for the 2019 Black History Month Essay & Poster Contest. We did so because this year’s THEME is: STUDENTS’ CHOICE!! That’s right, YOU decide. (Ask your teacher for help if you need guidance). As in year’s past, CLF will invite finalists to represent their school along with their distinguished parent(s)/guardian(s) to our 2019 Black History Month Reception. This year, we are pleased to be hosting the reception in Upper Marlboro, MD at our gorgeous CMIT South Campus. Remember, among the finalists invited, (3) winners from each division will be announced and $50 gift cards awards to each winner. Please reference the 2019 BHM Poster/flyer circulating around your school for more details & scoring rubric. Final drafts will be collected by your language arts teacher on or before January 25th. Warmest regards, Mark J. Sutherland Community Partnerships Director Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation

THANK-YOU
Sewing Club – Thank You Mrs. Jeffries!
Many thanks to Mrs. Jeffries, Dominic Sizemore’s mother for her phenomenal direction and support to CSP’s Sewing Club. Some of you may not know that Mrs. Jeffries played a key role in helping get our club up and running this year. Equally importantly, she has given generously of her time – helping with lesson plans, donating numerous supplies to our efforts, and giving whole-heartedly of her skills and talents to educate our young people about the benefits and delights of making something of value, or fixing something already treasured. Plus, she’s been a delight to work with because she’s fun, energetic, and dedicated to excellence -- and to our kids. A grateful thank you Mrs. Jeffries from your CSP Family and best wishes with your new endeavors! You will be missed!!!!

Repeat-Free School
CSP continues to provide a rigorous and quality education to all students. It has always been our goal to improve upon past practices, find new ways to engage students and make learning something students enjoy. We also believe that high school students need to put forth that same effort in order to be become successful adults; therefore, CSP is Repeat Free. If a student receives an E in a required high school course, the class will have to be repeated in an alternate program such as summer school, evening school and twilight school. These programs are available for students to make up credits in courses that they were not successful in the first time; classes at CSP are for students taking them for original credit. If a student does not make up the failed class in one of these alternative programs, there is a chance that we will not be able to schedule the student for the classes required for graduation and the student will have to take classes at CSP for more than four years.

Immunizations, Residency, Parent Connect
Dear Parents/Guardians, I'm starting my reminders early for 6th grade parents. All students entering the 7th grade must provide proof of receiving the tdap and MCV4 immunizations. You can fax (443-757-5280) or email me (jcalvert@mycsp.org) the updated records. When you send me the proof if immunizations, please follow up to make sure that I received them. Remember, your 7th grader must show proof before they can begin school next year. If you move to a new home, you must complete a new registration form and provide updated information. Please contact me for a list of the required documents that you will need. Only one Parent Connect account is permitted per household. The email address used to set up your account is the one that your information will be sent to. You will need to inform me if you want to change it. Once you receive your username and password, please keep this information in a safe place. Thanks, June (Registrar)
