A Message From Principal Jefferson...
Students are expected to arrive to school on time. All students should be in the building prior to 8:20am. Students that arrive after 8:20am will need to sign in at the front desk area.
Since the time from last year to this year changed slightly, I wanted to give parents and students a little extra time to adjust to the changes.
Beginning on October 2, students that arrive late to school more than four times will receive Saturday detention.
I do not want my students to arrive late to school disrupting their own learning experience along with that of other students.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation on this matter.
If you have questions regarding this please feel free to contact my secretary, Ms. O'Brien.

Parents Notifying Students of Transportation and After School Changes
Dear CSP Parents and Guardians,

It is imperative to note that if your student is a regular bus rider, but they need not ride the bus, you must let them know ahead of time, preferably in the morning. Calling the school 30 minutes or less before dismissal requires interrupting their class and additional stress during dismissal.

The same thing applies to change of plans regarding clubs or any other dismissal arrangements. Students are not permitted to use the Front Desk phone to call parents about after school arrangements.

Please know that these requirements are in effect in order to keep the environment of CSP safe and orderly.

Thank you very much for your understanding,

Cassandra Bogden,
Financial Secretary

Application for 2018-19 SY Opens Monday!
The CSP application for 2018-19 will open on October 16 and will remain open until November 30 at noon. If you have another child at home that you want to enroll, you must submit an online application before the deadline.

Siblings that submit an application on time are entered into their own lottery and accepted providing there is a space available. If there is not a space available, the sibling will be placed at the top of the wait list. This gives siblings preference over non-siblings.

If a sibling application is submitted late, it is placed at the bottom of the waitlist.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Class Dues for High Schoolers
Hello Parents,

This blurb is about upcoming due dates for high school class dues.

All due dates for class dues are included in the attachment. Please have your student bring me their dues directly; otherwise, you are welcome to bring them yourself to the Front Desk. My new office is behind the front desk.

The upcoming class dues for 10th grade are due on October 16th. They are $25.00.

I would also like to note that seniors will not be able to participate in class activities such as prom if their class dues are not paid timely.

Class dues are utilized to pay for class-wide events such as dances, prom, field trips, and any other activities that are class specific.

If you have any questions at all regarding class dues, please do not hesitate to email me at cbogden@mycsp.org or call my extension. My new extension for this year is 300.

Thank you very much!

Movie Night
The PTSO is excited to announce that in January we plan to host a Family Movie night for all CSP students, their parents/siblings, and staff. There is one catch – to hold this great event we need several parent volunteers (meaning- we need you!) who can assist at the event and we need to know now, so there is ample time to complete and submit the background check info to Anne Arundel County. If you can help us pull off what promises to be a fun event, please email us at mycspptsoboard@googlegroups.com and complete the CHAPERONE/VOLUNTEER BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION ONLINE.
You can access this form on the AACPS website under the tab labeled Families.

Sincerely,
Your CSP-PTSO

Important Information
Just a reminder that students attaining the age of 11 should receive the
Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) and MCV4 (Meningococcal) immunizations.
Please bring a copy of their immunization record to me when they receive them. Students that do not have up to date immunizations will not be permitted to attend school until proof is brought in. Things get a little hectic over the summer with vacations, etc. and then getting ready for the new school year, so getting these to me early will help ease some of the stress.

Parent Connect:
Please note that I check for requests every morning. If you need an account, please log into www.aacps.org and then follow the instructions under the Parent Connect Tab. If you already have an account and can't remember your username and/or password, please send me an email. Once you receive your information, please keep it in a safe place where you can access it as needed.

Thanks,

Repeat-Free School

CSP continues to provide a rigorous and quality education to all students. It has always been our goal to improve upon past practices, find new ways to engage students and make learning something students enjoy. We also believe that high school students need to put forth that same effort in order to be become successful adults; therefore, CSP is Repeat Free. If a student receives an E in a required high school course, the class will have to be repeated in an alternate program such as summer school, evening school and twilight school. These programs are available for students to make up credits in courses that they were not successful in the first time; classes at CSP are for students taking them for original credit. If a student does not make up the failed class in one of these alternative programs, there is a chance that we will not be able to schedule the student for the classes required for graduation.

Standardized Tests
Seniors are responsible for sending their official test scores to colleges from the College Board (SAT) or ACT websites. Most schools, including the University of Maryland, College Park will not review priority applications if test scores have not arrived by November 1. All seniors with deadlines of November 1 should have sent their scores by now.

AACC Dual Credit

Any student who wishes to receive high school credit for any dual credit AACC class they have taken must present an official transcript from AACC to Dr Gonzalez. The Registrar’s Office at AACC can assist you with that. (NOTE: The computer class that 9th graders took this fall is not a dual credit class, so no transcript is needed.)
