ACADEMY NEWS
Hello, From Ms. Warehime
Hello CMIT South Parents/Guardians,

For all our new parents and students, my name is Ms. Warehime and I am the school counselor at CMIT South. I hope everyone had a fun, relaxing summer, it is hard to believe it is over. I am excited to see what great things this year holds for CMIT-S.

As your school counselor I will be focusing on the academic, career and personal/social needs of the students at CMIT South.

Some highlights from last year were; visiting UMD and Bowie State, Lunch Bunches, College Speakers and going into the classroom to work on organization! I am hopeful we will have the chance to visit more colleges this year, to expose our students to the college environment. I will also be starting up lunch bunches again in the fall.

I am available to meet with students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom. I am also available to meet with you throughout the school day to address any issues concerning academic, career and personal/social needs.

I will be attending Back to School Nights, where I will have more information for you. I hope to see you there.

If you have any questions you can contact me at kwarehime@cmitsouth.org

Looking forward to another great school year at CMIT South!

Academic Integrity lesson

As part of college and career readiness, CMIT South is starting the new school year by ensuring that our students understand what Academic Integrity means as it relates to the tasks assigned to them in all classes. Lessons to be delivered in the Social Studies class will include modules on plagiarism, citations, types of sources, source reliability, summarizing and paraphrasing and ultimately presenting ones own original ideas.

Please note that this is not only a CMIT South requirement but college and workforce requirement. CMIT South teachers will not give any credit to student work lacking in academic integrity. Please help to stress the importance of this as student begin their scholarly work this school year.
