CMIT South - Black History Winners
|
CMIT South wins big. CLF sponsored a Black History contest during the month of February and South rose to the level of competition with exceeding gladness. Four out of the nine middle school winners came from CMIT South. To hear 1st place 8th grade winner, Alwyn Manalil's paper on Thurgood Marshall being read during the Black History reception brought a sense of proud that makes teaching well worth the sacrifice. His paper was selected, because of how eloquently he expressed Thurgood Marshall's fight for education not only for Blacks, but all races and how that impacts his personal life. Lyric Jones, 2nd place 8th grade winner, delighted the judges with the impact that Hattie McDaniel had on the entertainment field and how she paved the way for her to strive for her own goals in life. Lacey Fowler, 1st place 7th winner, wrote about the Dancing Doctor, Misty Copeland, how her love of dancing inspires her to pursue dance. Imani Davis, 3rd place 6th grade winner, wrote about Gabby Douglas the gymnast who inspires her to never give up on your dreams.
On behalf of the RELA department, we are so proud of our winners and all of those who participated.

Pi Day is Coming
|
CMIT South is preparing for our annual Pi day event. Pi day is on 03/14/2016. Pi (Greek letter “”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. Your student will participate in Pi day activities on this day in their math classes. We are in need of Pie donations for this event. Pie can be donated beginning March 9, 2016 during arrival and dismissal times. During arrival times, please bring all Pie donation to the front desk. Pie donations during dismissal and enrichment times should be dropped off in the cafeteria. Due to department of health regulations, we will not be accepting home made pies.
