GENERAL NEWS
First Semester is Almost Over
Dear Students and Parents,
We are only two weeks away from completing the first semester. It has been a great year with many activities and events as well as outstanding field trip opportunities.
I am asking all students to check their Schoolmax accounts and review the grades this weekend. On January 22nd, grades will be published and final grades for the first semester will be issued. Any questions or concerns about grades should be directed to the relevant teachers at this point.
Parents, please continue to check Schoolmax, SIS, and Edmodo to be informed about your child's progress.
STEM Fair will take place on Friday and we are in need of judges. Each family is asked to identify and sign up one judge for Friday. Here is the link for judges to sign up: https://docs.google.com/a/cmitsouth.org/forms/d/1j08UOFbjVERaVw01V1aHCu6OWfFke7bMM6Q2GFxW2S4/viewform. Attached is the invitation letter for any potential judges.
Thank you and have a great weekend.

Farewell
I like to thank very dedicated secretary Ms. Anice Ellis for her services to CMIT community. Ms. Ellis moved to CMIT South from CMIT North as we were getting ready to start our South campus in 2014. She spent her weekends and evenings to ensure the school opens on time with all the resources that students would need. Her hardwork is very much appreciated.

We congratulate Ms Ellis for her promotion and wish her the best in her new position.

CMIT South Winter Uniform Policy Reminders and Suggestions
Now that we are getting into the colder winter months, here are a few reminders regarding the CMIT South uniform policy:

- Due to the lack of space in lockers, you may want to consider dressing in layers instead of a wearing a bulky coat. Long sleeve shirts in colors such as black, gray or blue may be worn underneath the CMIT South uniform shirt or sweatshirt. With the CMIT South uniform jacket and a thick hoodie, you would be comfortable and take up less space in your locker.

- As of November 1, 2015, the winter policy for PE uniforms went into effect. Shorts are not allowed and the gym shirt must be worn with all black sweatpants. If a student does not wear his PE uniform on his assigned gym day, he or she must wear their regular CMIT South uniform in its entirety. Mixing uniform items is prohibited (for example, wearing a polo shirt with sweatpants).

-For further information, the complete CMIT South uniform policy is located at cmitsouth.org. Go to Parents and click on CMIT South Policies. Make sure to scroll all the way down to read the entire document. Please note that the uniform policy is under revision. Parents and students will be notified when it has been updated on the website.

Lost and Found Items
Hello Scholars and Parents,

There are a number of items in the Student Support office that have been found throughout the school over the first two quarters. We have a slew of notebooks, binders, books, jackets, calculators and keys that have gone unclaimed. On Friday, January 15, we will be conducting a mid-year clean out of all items. Anything unclaimed by the end of school that day will either be donated to a local shelter or discarded in some other manner. If you are missing a pair of glasses, please check with the front office.

Winter Gear Drive
The Ladies of CLP would like to thank everyone who donated to our Winter Gear Drive. We received a number of coats and other items which will be delivered to the shelter next week where we are sure they will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all of your support!

ID Cards
A CMIT South ID card must be worn on a lanyard around the neck at all times when in the school building, on field trips or any at any school-sponsored event unless otherwise instructed. It may not be clipped to a student's pocket or belt. At this time, all students have been issued an ID card. Holders are available in the Student Support office but you must provide your own lanyard. Replacement ID's may be obtained by contacting Mr. Curtis in the Student Support office.

Morning Enrichment
As a reminder, students in Morning Enrichment MUST have something to do while at Morning Enrichment. If students do not have homework to complete, please ensure they are coming with a book to read, wordsearch, crossword, etc. to keep themselves busy. We currently have too many students arriving with nothing to do. Morning Enrichment is not intended to be a social hour for students, and when students arrive with nothing to do, it is disruptive to students that do have work to complete. We appreciate your help in this matter.
