Picture Retake Day - December 14
|
Attention all Tiger Scholars - both Middle and High School!
Picture RETAKE day will take place on December 14th.
Students need to wear the following:
-CMIT South uniform polo shirts
-Appropriate uniform pants & shoes as usual
If a student does not have a uniform polo shirt due to a uniform shortage, they should wear a plain polo shirt in one of the appropriate colors (blue/green for middle school and purple/gold for high school).
If a student has PE class on December 14th but needs to retake their photo, they should still wear their normal uniform and NOT their PE attire.
Students do not need to wear their school oxford shirt this year and all students will be photographed. Students who were not in the correct uniform on picture day will need to participate in the Retake Day if they want to appear in the school yearbook as ONLY THE CORRECTLY UNIFORMED STUDENTS WILL APPEAR IN THE YEARBOOK. Students wearing a school sweatshirt or jacket will be asked to take it off for their picture.
High School students will receive a student ID using their uniform photo. IDs will not be immediately distributed.
Picture Retak forms are available in the school cafeteria as well as your Scholar's English classroom.

TICKET SALES FOR BASKETBALL GAMES!!!
|
Attention CMIT SOUTH TIGERS
I know there has been some confusion but here is how tickets will work for the basketball games moving forward.
There are two different PGCPS policies for ticket sales.
For Middle School games students are NOT allowed to purchase tickets. Only athletes on the team have a guest list and you must be on that list to attend the game.
For HS games students can purchase tickets on Ticketspicket.com. If you go on that website and type in CMIT South tickets will be available for purchase. Tickets will go on sale at 3:00 p.m. for the public. You can go straight to the website or follow us on Twitter @ CMITSAthletics to see us tweet a live link at 3:00 p.m on the day of each game.
Once tickets are sold out we will not have ANY MORE TICKETS! Tickets will not be sold at the door.
Thank you and I hope this clears all confusion.

Water Bottles
|
Greetings Parents/Guardians,
Studies show that adequate hydration improves cognitive and emotional functioning as well as lowers stress. In order to keep our students safely hydrated, water dispensers were installed in our building in the spring. We welcome students to hydrate during the school day. Please remind students to bring a water bottle to fill from the dispenser daily.
Thank you !

Saturday Academy - We will meet on December 11th & December 18th
|
Please make sure that your child brings his/her device to work. Also, make sure your child knows what they need assistance with when they arrive.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As a part of making sure, we at CMIT South do the very best to provide students with as many opportunities to improve their educational experience. We want to offer an optional small group setting to assist our students during Saturday Academy in our core classes of English and math. In these sessions, students can ask to receive additional help. We will help with homework and provide additional skills practice in the areas of RELA and Math. Our primary focus is on math and RELA, but we will try to help in the areas of science and social studies.
Of Course, COVID-19 protocols are still in place. Students will need to wear their masks at all times. They will need to continue to Social Distance. If your child is out for quarantine this is extended to Saturday Academy. Lastly, if your child is not feeling well please do not send them to Saturday Academy.
If you decide to take this optional opportunity, it begins Saturday, November 6. We offer two sessions each Saturday. Session 1 is from 9:00 am -10:30 am and Session 2 10:40-12:30. You can decide which session fits your schedule best. If you choose to send your child, registering is very simple. Drop your child off at the designated location. This location is the doors located before you get to the middle school ramp. Drop-off and pick-up will use the same doors. A sign will be posted on the door to indicate that you are at the right location.
There will be a weekly sign-in sheet each Saturday. Allowing me to keep track of which subject your child wants assistance with each week. Your child can participate in both sessions. If you decide that you want your child to do both sessions to receive help in English and math. Please provide them with a snack to eat if possible.
It is imperative that you pick up your child on time! Failure to do so will result in your child not being allowed to continue attending these free sessions.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturdays.

|
Good Day Seniors,
This announcement is for those of you who have not returned your Graduation Notification Form. This is the form that either Mr. Pitter or myself went over with you and instructed you to return after having your parent sign it.
Thank You to those of you who have returned the form to either me or Mr. Pitter.
You all are now young adults who are 6 months away from entering the post high school world; where responsibility and accountability will solely lie on you… not me… not your parents.
If you have not done so already, please return the signed form to either Mr. Pitter or myself before December 15th.
If you need another form, please see me or Mr. Pitter immediately.
Thank You.

Ms. O'Daniel's Class Update
|
Greetings,
Quarter Two is in full swing in room 329. Scholars are now able to earn "Tiger Paws" which they can spend at the PBIS center in the classroom to earn prizes such as bookmarks, and stickers for Practicing respect, accepting responsibility, working together, and being successful. Scholars will earn tickets throughout the class that they can cash in for their prizes before or after class.
Please ask your scholars to come to class with a charged chrome book. There are very limited outlets, and it is vital that students remain in their assigned seats due to Covid-19. Students will not be permitted to change their seat to charge their chrome books during class. Please also remind scholars to keep their cell phones in their backpacks during class instruction.
Just a friendly reminder that Progress Report Grades are due December 22, 2021 and students are encouraged to meet with me or send an email about their missing assignments or questions they may have about their grades.
Here is an update from each class:
LSN Government:
We have officially wrapped up unit 2 and have moved on to unit 3: participation in government where students are going to be learning about the election process, and how citizens play a role in our government procedures.
AP Government:
We will begin talking about social movements and reforms next week as we wrap up unit three. Scholars will also be introduced to their political science fair projects that will be a long term project for the second half of the school year. I will be posting in the newsletter along with communicating with families via email all due dates and requirements for this project.
Comparative Religion:
Students are learning about Hinduism and continuing to work on their final project which is due on January 31, 2022. Please ensure your scholar is working on this project in small chunks so that they are not overwhelmed at the end of the quarter with their projects.
