GENERAL NEWS
Principal's Corner
Greetings Families, Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. This weekend is bitter-sweet. We not only celebrate our graduates, we also remember our fallen heroes. Join me in remembering all those who lost their lives while serving in the military. In celebration of another CMIT South MHS success! CMIT South MHS just experienced our 2nd ever graduation and our very first actual, in-person graduation! Thanks to all our Senior Class sponsor(s), family supports, staff and Seniors, we did it! It was truly a celebratory event. The ceremony was live streamed and is now on our website for all to view. If you have not seen the graduation, please visit cmitsouth.org and take a look!

MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWS
8th grade Promotion Events!!!
Dear 8th grade parents
We are very excited to announce that we will be able to organize an 8th grade promotion this year. Under the guidance of PGCPS’s graduation procedures and protocols, we have decided to organize two separate events to be able to recognize and celebrate our 8th grade scholar’s achievements. We will have a Virtual Town Hall with all of our parents, scholars and staff and a “Pick-Up Certificate” event at our school on a separate day. Please find the details for both events below. Virtual Town Hall: Wednesday, June 9th @ 2:00pm Topic: 8th Grade Promotion - Virtual Town Hall Time: Jun 9, 2021 02:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada) Join Zoom Meeting https://pgcps-org.zoom.us/j/84349654431?pwd=N0dBNGtBRzZieTk2dVJVbEVORWdzZz09 Meeting ID: 843 4965 4431 Passcode: 085138 ***We ask that the parents and scholars participate in the zoom session all together in order to minimize the zoom session capacity issues. Pick-Up Certificate: Thursday, June 10th & Friday, June 11th
Parents and students will arrive the school in previously scheduled groups (through SignUp Genius) of 10 over a 2-day period. They will enter the school via a single lane method, where a volunteer will verify student name and time slot. Then the vehicle will be waved forward. The vehicle will approach the tables and stop where we have the middle school ramp. The student certificates and their promotional materials will be given to the student(s). The volunteer will ask if the student wishes to take photographs. In the event they do, the driver will be directed to park in one of 10 open parking spots to exit the vehicle for photos. Upon completion of photos, the party will exit the school property. Please sign up with using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0A45AEA72FA2FF2-pickup

Student Portraits for the Virtual Yearbook
Hello CMIT Students and Families, As you may know, this year our Yearbook Staff is putting together a virtual yearbook to celebrate and document this school year. Unfortunately, we were not able to take traditional school portraits - so in order to fill our portrait pages, we need your help! You will take a picture at home (instructions are included) and send it to the Yearbook Staff using the Google form below: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf_Lwcy9Rpudf5RVq5CKIRYwURpR72ZfPska0RtU04KhoVgaQ/viewform Please upload a maximum of two photos for our yearbook staff to choose between for the virtual yearbook. Each picture should: -Be taken with the camera held horizontally. -Be well-lit so that we can clearly see the student's face. -Have a solid, neutral colored background (as much as possible). -Portrait should be taken from mid-chest up and student should fill up most of the frame. -No hand gestures may be visible. Attached is an image (which is also in the google form) to provide some examples of what the yearbook staff is looking for. WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED MANY PORTRAITS SO WE ARE EXTENDING THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION. Thank you!
