Greetings CMIT South MH Families!
Today was our Seniors last day of school! What an amazing group of students! They finished their day with a town hall and the announcement of this year's Valedictorians and Salutatorian. It was quite exciting!
This week I attended the PLTW Engineering students symposium where students presented their capstone projects. Did I say we have an amazing group of Seniors? I'll say it again, we have an amazing group of Seniors.
Every project was unique, grounded in research, and had merit. I expect to see some, if not all, of these inventions on the market one day. Congratulations Teams! Well Done!

Greetings Parents and Scholars,
This message is for students in grades 9 - 11 and middle school students that are currently taking a credit bearing class. As you may know, you must earn a final average of at least a 60% in each high school course in order to earn credit.
PGCPS is providing students that currently have an average of between a 50-60% the opportunity to take a Demonstration of Course Mastery Assessment. If you pass this assessment with a C (70%) or higher, you will earn an additional 10 percentage points to your final course grade. On Monday May 17, 2021, the Area Office and Student Services will be hosting an informational WebEx meeting for parents to discuss the Demonstration of Course Mastery Assessments and the registration process.
Parents and guardians who are interested in this opportunity for their student must register their child to participate by Thursday, May 20, 2021. BenchMark 3 Testing - RELA and Math
|
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) is pleased to inform you that your child will be taking the last district Benchmark Assessments for this school year. The Reading English Language Arts (RELA) Benchmark assessment administration will take place beginning on Monday, May 17, 2021 through Friday, June 11th. The Math Benchmark assessment administration will take place beginning on Monday, May 24th and go through Friday, June 11th. PGCPS will be using the Pearson TestNav platform to administer the Benchmark Assessments. Your child’s teacher will be communicating with you and your child to provide technological support, logistics, and steps on how to access the assessments in the Pearson TestNav platform.
The assessments will cover two major content areas of Mathematics and Reading/English/Language Arts (RELA). The testing program includes:
● RELA Benchmark assessments administered to students in grades 3 through 10.
● Mathematics Benchmark Assessments administered to students in grades K through 12.
The purpose of these assessments is to provide instructional tools for teachers to see what your child learned following recent instruction. No grades will be assigned based on these assessment results. The results of the Benchmark Assessments will be used by teachers and schools to enhance instruction on skills your child is learning in the classroom.
Your child will need your support by helping them select a quiet place to complete each assessment and removing all non-testing materials such as phones, textbooks, and notebooks to minimize distractions. Your child may also need your assistance with connecting to the appropriate technology platforms and applications. It is critical that your child take each assessment independently, with no assistance provided within the remote learning setting, so they can show what they have learned from the first quarter’s instruction. We are truly excited to provide the best e-learning opportunity and continue to support your child’s educational needs.
For more information on the assessment platform or technical assistance, please; ● Visit the PGCPS Distance Learning Site
