Principal's Corner

Happy Friday CMIT South MHS Families,
This has been an interesting week! So much has occurred! It's the end of the quarter and the usual end-of-quarter activities occur. Governor Hogan made it known that schools will be reopening sooner rather than later. There is also the logistics of vaccines. This is a lot to wrap our minds around in one week. Unfortunately, life doesn't stops so we can catch up and consider the new things. We must grapple with the new concerns while juggling the old ones. My hat goes off to every CMIT South MHS family. Please know, as we get concrete information, we will share with you. Until then, we are in the process of developing a plan for our eventual safe reentry into the building. I will do my best to keep you informed!
As I mentioned, the 2nd Quarter ended this week. 2nd Quarter Report Cards will be released on or around February 11th, provided nothing changes. PGCPS has set aside February 16th for Parent/Teachers/Conferences. However, CMIT South MHS has added additional hours next week (beginning February 1st) for conferences in an attempt to allow more families to sign up. We ask, if you see your child’s teacher the week of February 2nd, please allow other families to take advantage of February 16th. As you prepare for your conferences, here are some things you might want to consider discussing:
Your scholar’s earned 2nd Quarter grade(s)
Your scholar’s attendance in the class(es)
Your scholar’s class participation
How specifically families may support scholars moving forward.
How can your scholar receive additional support from the teacher(s), if needed.
Please consider the 3rd Quarter as a great starting over point and continue to work with the teachers to ensure your scholar’s success.
Lastly families, I apologize for any inconvenience experienced today (Friday) while trying to contact CMIT South MHS staff. It appears we had an interruption in our ability to email, use Zoom and all things Google. It is being addressed. I am asking families, if you sent an email to a CMIT South MHS staff member today, please don't assume the recipient received it. Please resend it on Monday. Also, feel free to use the PGCPS email addresses if needed. This situation should be fixed by Monday. Again, thank you for your patience.
Professionally,
Dr. Washington

Parent-Teacher Conference February 1st - February 3rd
|
Dear CMIT South Families:
As we move into the second semester, we want to provide our parents with opportunities to partner with our teachers. Although PGCPS is providing opportunity for parent teacher conferences on February 16, 2021, CMIT South M/HS is providing parents additional days to ensure more parents can engage in conferences with their scholars' teachers.
During this upcoming testing week, CMIT South M/HS will operate on a 2-Hour delay schedule. This delayed schedule will allow scholars to take their math assessment while providing parents some time to meet teachers. If you meet with your scholar's teachers next week, we kindly ask that you not sign up to meet again on February 16th.
When you access the Sign Up Genius link below you may sign up to see any/all teachers, except math, on Monday, 2/01/2021 and Tuesday, 2/02/2021. You may sign up to see your child's math teacher on Wednesday, 2/03/2021. Please sign up by 8pm on Sunday 1/28/2021, before the Sign Up Genius closes, so you can receive a Zoom Link for the teacher by Monday Morning.
Looking forward to seeing you virtually.
Thank you.
