GENERAL NEWS
HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING
As we reflect on the many things for which we are thankful, CMIT South MS/HS wants to take this opportunity to share just a few of them with you: We are thankful for our students who show up virtually every day ready to learn – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. We are thankful for the support of the parents in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. We are thankful for the teachers, assistants, nurse, secretaries, lunchroom staff, support staff, and administrators who really care about student achievement and have the best interests of our students at heart. We are also thankful for our volunteers who have enthusiastically contribute so much. We are thankful that despite COVID-19, we remain alive and in good health. Everyday, we see dedicated and tireless individuals going above and beyond to make sure that great things happen at CMIT South MS/HS. They do make a difference, and the scholars, in their own individual ways, benefit from those efforts. Most importantly, we are thankful for the families that have kept the faith in us. They continue to share their most valuable possession with us and—in most cases— work hard and advocate to be a partner in their children’s education, safety and well-being. For this, we are ever so thankful. From CMIT South family to yours, Have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday!

The process of hiring a new principal will start soon. Dr. Washington has graciously stepped in to continue for the remainder of the school year. Dr. Washington can be reached via email at gwashington@cmitsouth.org. There is so much we have achieved together at CMIT South MS/HS since we opened in 2014. With your partnership, CMIT South MS/HS is well sort after for families seeking a world class education for their scholars. I thank each of you for being an important partner with me during the last seven years. As I embark on this new professional chapter, and look forward to the new challenges that lie before me, I leave with so much love and fondness for the staff, parents and most importantly, the students of CMIT South MS/HS. Please know that I will still be one of you as a parent of a CMIT South MS/HS scholar. My last work day will be November 30, 2020. The very best to each of you for safe and happy holidays. Canned Food Drive Update
Hello CMIT-South families, First, I hope everyone is staying safe during this new surge in cases. I wanted to reach out to update the families about our Canned Food Drive from the SGA.  I want to thank everyone who has donated or is willing to donate and bring donations to the school for us to bring to the food bank. However, with new restrictions in place and staff limitations in the building, we have to ask families NOT to bring donations to the school. We still want to encourage students and families to donate, so please see below for how you can help.  Our wonderful student volunteers have reached out to the Capital Area Food-Bank and gathered how to still help this year.  - Attached is their flyer for the most requested items - If you cannot donate physical contributions but want to contribute monetary donations, please go to https://www.capitalareafoodbank.org/donate/  - For physical donations, there are two drop-off locations -- In Washington, DC - 4900 Puerto Rico Avenue, NE Washington, DC 20017 -- In Northern Virginia - 6833 Hill Park Drive Lorton, VA 22079 We also want to encourage families, if they are able, to donate to any of the following: - College Park Food Bank - http://www.collegeparkfoodbank.com/get-involved  - Southern Maryland Food Bank - https://southernmarylandfoodbank.com/how-to-donate/ - Annapolis LightHouse - https://annapolislighthouse.org/get-involved/needs/  If you ever need more resources or need to share resources, for Prince George's County you can dial 2-1-1 or visit http://www.pgcfec.org/ for more help finding resources.  We want to thank everyone for their kindness and wish you all a safe Thanksgiving and Fall break!
