CMIT South MS/HS appreciates your presence to meet your scholars teacher and hear about all the exciting learning to occur this school year. We are off to a great start. FREE AND REDUCED MEAL APPLICATIONS
|
Free or reduced-price meals are available to students based on household size and income (see chart through link). If income falls below the amount listed below for household size, then students living within the household may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Students are automatically eligible for free meals if the family receives assistance under the Food Supplement Program or Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) benefits.

If your child usually participates in FARMS or you may qualify to participate, please complete the form online. Filling out the form will prevent a disruption of meal services. These forms are also used to determine additional funding for staff and school resources.

Wellness Wednesdays
|
Greetings Tenacious Tigers!
We have some EXCITING news for you. Starting this Wednesday, our amazing Student Support Team will be offering Wellness Wednesdays!!! Come out and join us for some fun and engaging sessions as we work together to strengthen our minds and bodies. This Wednesday September 23, 2020 we will meet with Middle School Tigers from 11:00 – 12:00 and with High School Tigers from 1:00 – 2:00. Immunizations Still Required During Distance Learning
|
Although PGCPS will offer distance learning for the first semester, students must meet state immunization requirements within 20 calendar days of enrollment (Sept. 21). Immunizations during the pandemic are essential in maintaining overall health, especially during flu season.

Great Electoral Race
This Labor Day through Election Day, youth age 13-24 are invited to participate in Mikva’s Great Electoral Race – a digital scavenger hunt made up of 51 Challenges designed to help youth make their voices heard in the 2020 election (and empower their communities to do the same). http://greatelectoralrace.com/
Each Challenge is named after a US state (and is worth as many points as that state has Electoral College votes). Youth complete Challenges using their Instagram accounts and track their progress to 270 at greatelectoralrace.com to earn points and win prizes.

RELA DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

Hello MS Parents & Students:
This is a friendly reminder that middle school students are scheduled to take the Reading, English, Language Arts (RELA) diagnostic test on Monday 9/21/20 & Tuesday 9/22/20. Students who are not able to access TestNav on their Chromebooks will complete a different assignment on Edmodo. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Student Government Subcommittees (SGA)

Hi CMIT-South HS Family!
This school year, one of the main goals for the Executive Committee for SGA is to improve our school community and increase student engagement. With that, we are introducing new positions and volunteer opportunities within SGA.
There are 4 new subcommittees to help us meet our goals.
1. Social/Mental Health Awareness Committee (Chair needed)
2. Youth Engagement Committee (NEW CHAIR:Moses Vincent, III)
3. Events Committee (Chair needed)
4. Post-Secondary Committee (NEW CHAIR: Matthew Bragg)

Virtual PTO Meeting and Elections
|
Dear CMIT South MS/HS Families:
The CMIT South MS/HS PTO will assemble a virtual annual meeting on October 1 at 6:30 pm via Zoom only. This meeting will present the slate of candidates for the 2020-21 CMIT South MS/HS PTO.
Additional nominations will be selected from the floor for members “eligible for office if they are members in good standing at least 30 calendar days prior to this meeting.”
If you or someone you know would like to submit their name for a position, they may do so and indicate the position of interest during the annual meeting.

Do I have to purchase uniforms from this vendor?
No, however, uniforms purchased from other vendors must have 100% identical color tone and the CMIT South logo. The current uniform vendor provides donation to the CMIT South PTO based on sales. Each uniform purchased is contribution to the school.
What is CMIT South's Daily Schedule?
8:20am - 8:40am:
- Student arrival (drop off is at the side entrance)
- Doors close at 8:40am (after 8:40am parents need to sign late students in at the Front Office)
8:20am - 8:45am:
- Homeroom (Breakfast is available during this time until 8:45am)
8:45am - 2:49pm for 6th & High School grades and 8:45am - 2:54pm for 7th & 8th grades:
- Academic instruction
2:49/2:54pm - 3:10 pm:
Student pick-up outside (Students who are not picked up by 3:10pm will be waiting outside for their ride. There is no adult supervision for these students during this time).
Clubs and enrichment activities will begin immediately following dismissal. All club/enrichment participants must report directly to the cafeteria. Students who continuously fail to report directly to their designated locations will lose the privilege to participate in any after school activities.
How do I pay for my child's lunch?
Breakfast and lunch are served every day. You can add money to your child's account by visiting this link. You can also pay by cash or money order in the cafeteria.
Can my child bring their own lunch to school?
Students can bring a lunch from home. Lunches can be stored in the student's locker. Lunch taken to lunch room should be consumed in lunch room. Student cannot return to locker after lunch. All lunch bags should be left in lockers if student do not wish to place in bins after lunch. Lunch bags are not allowed in class.
What do they serve for school lunch?
A monthly menu is provided by Food and Nutrition Services. Click here for lunch and breakfast menu.
What is the academic calendar?
CMIT South MS/HS follows the Prince George's County Public School calendar found here. To receive notifications of PGCPS school cancellations by providing information here.
Where can I find information about CMIT events and updates?
