GENERAL NEWS
CMIT South Presents #BlackFilmsMatter
CMIT South MS/HS commemorated the 2020 Black History Month with a worthy show on February 20, 2020 themed Black Film Matters. Over 200 families graced the occasion. Talented students displayed many talents with performance such as songs, dances, steps, speeches and many more. Our ever supportive PTO volunteers - Mrs. Andrews, Mrs Wards, Mrs. Marshal, Mrs. Rodriguez, Ms. Johnson and many others helped with the awesome set and decor. Many thanks to the Social Studies Department for the vision that brought this event to live - Ms. G. Jones, Ms. R. Jones, Ms. Eitsert, Mr. Tucker, and Ms. Nicholas. They couldn't have done this without support from many staff members including but not limited to Ms. Monroe, Mr. Washington, Ms. Brown, Ms. Oyelade, Ms. Berroa, Dr. Arroyo and many others. We are truly blessed. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed authentic African Cuisine and music. We are grateful for such supportive community and families. We look forward to next year. Thank you all for coming. Click on the link to see some highlights: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Kfjl-rHKT05IofFoQmA6IvdumtAFJRiR?usp=sharing

LAW LINKS SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
For over 27 years, the Prince George’s County Bar Association (PGCBA) has sponsored the Law Links Summer Internship Program. The Law Links Program provides select Prince George’s County Public School students with summer employment opportunities in law firms and law-related agencies. Students have the opportunity to learn about the professional world, the legal system, and law office operations. The Program offers students personal interaction through their work experience, law-related activities, and the Law and Leadership Institute. The Law Links Program seeks to assist the students in reaching their post-high school goals, to encourage higher education as part of those goals, and to encourage other professional organizations to adopt similar programs in the ensuing years. This is a paid summer internship for students entering the 11th and 12th grade. Once selected, we assign each student to a participating law firm or law-related agency. The student is expected to work 30 to 40 hours each week throughout the Program. Included in the 30 to 40 hour week is the Law and Leadership Institute, a class that the student attends each week at the courthouse. This year, the Program will run for a seven week period, from June 22, 2020 to August 14, 2020. The application deadline has been extended and students may apply through April 5, 2020. Application form and directions for submission is attached. Should you have any questions regarding the Law Links Program, please contact/call (301) 952-3767 or napearson@co.pg.md.us.

UMOJA Baking Cookies with Maureen
I am a true believer of the African Proverb "It takes a village to raise a child." Well, Umoja was blessed once again to have Ms. Maureen Author to come and share her art of baking homemade by scratch cookies! She shared with Umoja how baking (cookie in general) can be therapeutic and a skill all young ladies need to have, not just for there future families but for themselves. The girls baked, ate, chat and bonded. Thank you, Ms. Maureen, you are our adopted grandma and Umoja Girl! ******Ms. Maureen is the grandmother of Trinity & Shekinah Noel***** Here is Ms. Maureen's homemade cookie recipe (she has given me permission to share)" 3 cups of Flour 2 sticks of butter 4 eggs 1/ tsp.
