GENERAL NEWS
SUMMER ASSIGNMENT IS HERE
A tradition at CMIT South MS/HS is for all middle school students to complete summer assignments in RELA, Math, Science and Technology. High school students complete summer assignment in English and Mathematics. Some assignments may not be in the folder but will be by week's end. Students are expected to begin their summer assignments by July 1, 2019. Some assignments have due dates during the months of July and August. All assignments are due on or before September 13, 2019. Teachers of these subjects are providing necessary directions for summer assignments during this last week in class. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions. Teacher will not be available during the summer break. Questions related to summer assignment during the summer break should be directed to testing@cmitsouth.org. Summer assignments constitute part of the assessment grades for first quarter of the new school year. Links to summer assignments are below. Middle School Yearbooks Are Here!
Middle School Yearbook distribution will be on Monday and Tuesday. Students that preordered yearbooks should report to Miss Sears' classroom at the times listed below to receive their yearbook. If you would like to purchase one of the extra yearbooks we ordered, please put $22 cash in an envelope with your name and university on it. Then report to Miss Sears' classroom with your envelope at the times listed below to get your copy. If you do not have the $22, you will not get a yearbook until you bring your money. Remember, the extra yearbooks are on a first come-first serve basis and you cannot reserve a copy. Pick Up Times: Monday: before school until 8:40am OR after school until 3:10pm Tuesday: before school until 8:40am OR after school until 3:10pm, or Tuesday during lunch in the cafeteria

New Student Orientation Day
We welcomed our new students and parents at our school on last Saturday. While our incoming scholars take an assessment, our administrative staff and students presented CMIT South's programs, daily routines and expectations. We thank you to all staff and students who helped to make this event with a full of success, especially to our great presenters, Brook and Muna.

SUMMER HOURS REMINDER
All PGCPS schools are operating on summer hours from July 1, 2019 until August 9, 2019. This means that CMIT SouthMS/HS will be opened as follows: July 1, 2019 until August 9, 2019 7:00am - 5:30pm - Monday through Thursday (we are closed Fridays) After August 9, 2019 7:30am - 3:00pm - Monday - Friday Thank you.

CLASS OF 2023 LATEST UPDATES
This week will be our final week of school and activities. Please read the following: TONIGHT is the 8th Grade Dance from 7:00 to 11:00 pm at the PG Ballroom. Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door. SUNDAY, June 9th - 8th-grade Skating at Lanham Skate from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Cost is $15.00. You CAN purchase tickets at the door. MONDAY, JUNE 10th - Movie and Dinner Night for 8th Grade Students - Immediately following school until 7 pm. *On Monday, 8th Grade students are allowed to wear their class shirt with uniform bottoms to school, unless you are attending the field trip. *​Movie Night pick up will be in the cafeteria. THURSDAY, JUNE 13TH - ALL 8th Grade Students are to arrive at Oxon Hill High School at 4:15 p.m. Please remember the preferred uniform for that day is all white, all black or a combination of those colors so that our scholars look uniform. The stoles will be given to the students on the day of the ceremony. --

Breakthrough Junior Challenge Scholarship Opportunity to win a $250,000 college scholarship

2019 Men of Distinction Leadership Program a Success!
We are celebrating the end of a wonderful year of events through our Men of Distinction Leadership program (MOD) offered to both middle and high school young men. Over the course of this year, the students have engaged in monthly mentoring activities that focused on a variety of topics. Some events the students participated in are: * Mentor Mixer * Law Enforcement Safety and Our Young Men * Professional Image, Entrepreneurship, and Resume Building * United States Capital Visit: Observing a Congressional Voting Session - Politics and the Making of Laws * Building the Community – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. tribute and a visit to the National Museum of African-American Museum and Culture * Dave & Buster’s Award Fun Night Special thanks to Mrs. Asafa and the entire Administrative staff, our mentor teachers and student support specialists, all parent volunteer mentors/dads, mothers, and our wonderful students for making the first year of this program a success. More great things to come in the upcoming year!

PGCPS SCHOOL CALENDAR UPDATE
This school year, Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) closed two days for inclement weather (January 14 and February 20) and used 11 early dismissal/delayed opening days. The last day of school for students will be Friday, June 14. Students will be dismissed two-hours early. For more information, visit www.pgcps.org/school-calendar-process.

Do I have to purchase uniforms from this vendor?

No, however, uniforms purchased from other vendors must have 100% identical color tone and the CMIT South logo. The current uniform vendor provides donation to the CMIT South PTO based on sales. Each uniform purchase from Minuteman Press is contribution to the school. 


What is CMIT South's Daily Schedule?
8:20am - 8:40am:
- Student arrival (drop off is at the side entrance)
- Doors close at 8:40am (after 8:40am parents need to sign late students in at the Front Office)

8:20am - 8:45am:
- Homeroom (Breakfast is available during this time until 8:45am)

8:45am - 2:49pm for 6th & High School grades and 8:45am - 2:54pm for 7th & 8th grades: 
- Academic instruction

2:49/2:54pm - 3:10 pm: 
Student pick-up outside (Students who are not picked up by 3:10pm will be waiting outside for their ride. There is no adult supervision for these students during this time).

Clubs and enrichment activities will begin immediately following dismissal. All club/enrichment participants must report directly to the cafeteria. Students who continuously fail to report directly to their designated locations will lose the privilege to participate in any after school activities. 

How do I pay for my child's lunch?
Breakfast and lunch are served every day. You can add money to your child's account by visiting this link. You can also pay by cash or money order in the cafeteria. 

Can my child bring their own lunch to school?
Students can bring a lunch from home. Lunches can be stored in the student's locker. Lunch taken to lunch room should be consumed in lunch room. Student cannot return to locker after lunch. All lunch bags should be left in lockers if student do not wish to place in bins after lunch. Lunch bags are not allowed in class.

What do they serve for school lunch?
A monthly menu is provided by Food and Nutrition Services. Click here for lunch and breakfast menu.

What is the academic calendar?
CMIT follows the Prince George's County Public School calendar found here. To receive notifications of PGCPS school cancellations by providing information here.

Where can I find information about CMIT events and updates?
