MARYLAND STATE REPORT CARD - 4 STARS
|
CMIT South recently received the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) School Report Card, summarizing our performance on the new Maryland Accountability System.
The results reflect school performance across multiple areas, including academic achievement, school quality and student success measures. They reflect areas in which we are doing well and illuminate those in which we need to improve. You may view the School Report Card and more information at www.pgcps.org/schools.
CMIT South Middle School received a 4 star rating with a earned point of 74%. The middle school missed a 5 star rating by 1 point. CMIT South Middle school outperformed 78% of peers in the state of Maryland. Our parent Organization, CLF and all of us at CMIT South understand that this work and results will not be possible without your involvement. We look forward to your continued partnership as we work towards a 5 star rating. CMIT South High School did not receive a rating as of yet due to no graduating class.
While the final score and school rating do not tell the whole story, the data will help us ask questions, make decisions, and act.
We hope you will use the School Report Card as a tool to become more involved in your child’s education. By taking a community approach to the mission of educating children, we can strive for excellence, advocate for supports and celebrate our progress. We thank you for all that you do.
You can view a comprehensive report through this link:

DECEMBER 5 & 11 - PSAT 8/9 DAY FOR 8TH/9TH GRADE
|
CMIT South MS/HS will be administering the PSAT 8/9 to all 8th and 9th grade students - December 5th for 8th grade and December 11th for 9th grade. Please encourage your student to visit the link below for practice and sample tests. The PSAT 8/9 tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10—in a way that makes sense for eighth and ninth graders. It measures what they’re already learning, shows them whether they’re on track for college, and lets them know where they need the most improvement. That means students have time to tackle these areas long before they take the SAT. Students over 13 can share their scores with Khan Academy® to create a personalized practice experience. It’s the best way to prepare for other tests in the SAT Suite of Assessments, and it’s free.
Please do not schedule any appointments to coincide with this dates and make sure your scholar is in attendance and punctual.

Black History Month 2019
|
Dear Teachers & Students of all CLF Schools,
This opportunity is available to any CLF school students.
By announcing before the holiday break, we thought this would give our tigers more time to prepare for the 2019 Black History Month Essay & Poster Contest.
We did so because this year’s THEME is: STUDENTS’ CHOICE!! That’s right, YOU decide. (Ask your teacher for help if you need guidance).
As in year’s past, CLF will invite finalists to represent their school along with their distinguished parent(s)/guardian(s) to our 2019 Black History Month Reception. This year, we are pleased to be hosting the reception in Upper Marlboro, MD at our gorgeous CMIT South Campus.
Remember, among the finalists invited, (3) winners from each division will be announced and $50 gift cards awards to each winner.
Please reference the 2019 BHM Poster/flyer circulating around your school for more details & scoring rubric.
Final drafts will be collected by your language arts teacher on or before January 25th.
