We are so very proud of our scholars and their talents. Many, many thanks to the SGA for organizing this event. UPDATE ON PGCPS EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND MAKE-UP DAYS
|
Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) will be in session Wednesday, April 4 through Friday, April 6 to make up for weather-related closures.
Schools were originally scheduled to be closed Tuesday, April 3 through Friday, April 6 for Spring Break, as noted in the 2017-18 calendar. The Prince George’s County Board of Education will consider designating April 4 as a makeup day at its March 29 meeting.
Schools have been closed six days this school year for inclement weather (Jan. 4-5 and 17, and March 2, 21-22). The 2017-18 school calendar planned for five inclement weather makeup days.
Due to a statewide mandate by Gov. Hogan, the school calendar must start after Labor Day and end June 15.
School delays or closures greatly impact students, families and staff. The decision to delay or close schools is based on safety and a variety of other factors, including National Weather Service reports, recommendations from PGCPS transportation supervisors and building maintenance directors, who survey conditions throughout the county as early as 3 a.m.
Facility staff report on power outages, HVAC/heat issues and any plumbing issues that could impact schools and offices. PGCPS executive staff members communicate with County government agencies. The school system’s top consideration is safety for buses, motorists and students who walk to school.

VIRTUAL REALITY @ CMIT SOUTH - USED SMARTPHONE DONATION NEEDED
|
CMIT South is excited to bring Virtual Reality into the classroom at CMIT South. Virtual Reality (VR) describes three-dimensional computer-generated environments that replace the normal reality in which our everyday lives play out. With this technology, students can take excursions while in the classroom and fully immersed in the environment they are viewing. CMIT South has invested in some VR equipments and would love to begin using them with Google Expedition. We are in need of your old smartphones/IPod - Android and Apple to use with the VR equipments. Please email ebrown@cmitsouth.org if you would like us to take that old phone off your hands. Looking forward to hearing from you. For more information on Virtual Reality and Google Expedition, please visit https://shakeuplearning.com/blog/use-virtual-reality-google-expeditions-classroom/
