For all of those interested in supporting Puerto Rico

CMIT South PTO will be preparing care packages for those affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Currently, most have a secure roof or housing, which it’s a blessing, but no power, some of them without water and almost no cellphone connectivity. They are lacking the access of basic needs because they are scarce or the few available are very expensive for them. Sometimes the access to cash itself is difficult and because the lack of power, most places are only taking cash.

Attached is a list of possible items that can be donated to send these packages. A package is around $45 in supplies and food items on a large USPS Flat Rate box that ships for $18.95.

If it is in your heart to reach out to those in need, we will be collecting donations at the Parent Meeting room which is located at the front of the school. Donations will be collected from Monday, October 23rd- Thursday, November 9th. There will be a box set-up for supplies. Also you can contribute with gift cards for Walmart (there is no pick up at store service in PR), Amazon and grocery stores like Aldi and we can get the items needed. Additionally, cash to supporting shipping can be dropped in the PTO mail box in a marked envelope.

If you have any question, please email PTO Parent Helper, Tamika Spencer, Tamikaspencer@hotmail.com.

National Bullying Prevention Month
CMIT-South is celebrating National Bullying Prevention Month!

Each week in October will represent different ways that WE (students, staff, and families) can get involved to officially stomp out bullying.

I say WE because in order for CMIT-South to be bully-free, all members of the community need to be involved. Please encourage your children to be part of the solution.. not the problem.

The attached document includes descriptions of the themes for each week in October.

Thank you!

Free and Reduced Priced Meals

Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) is pleased to offer a time-saving, convenient online application process for Free and Reduced-Price Meals (FARMS). Previously, parents had to complete a paper application and return to it their child’s school. For their convenience, the new online application streamlines the process and can be completed from any computer with Internet access.

Free or reduced-price meals are available to students based on household size and income. To view income eligibility guidelines, click here. Benefits expire each year so families must reapply to ensure students continue to receive meal benefits. Students are automatically eligible for free meals if their family receives assistance under the Food Supplement Program (FSP) or Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) benefits.

Please use the link below to apply for Free and Reduced-Price Meals. For details on the application process, visit the PGCPS Department of Food and Nutrition Services website, or call 301-952-6517.
