GENERAL NEWS
Cyber Safety
CMIT South students have access to Chromebooks and PCs at almost any moment that they are in our building. From Reading & Language Arts to Science, in all subject areas, students are provided with number of online interactive resources.

Teachers continuously make reminders about appropriate technology use. Character Education course has cyber safety and cyber bullying in their curriculum. In addition, CMIT South holds a cyber safety assembly each year. This year's session is being planned for Spring.

We are asking our parents to monitor students' cmitsouth.org email accounts. Some parents obtain the account password from their student and review the email traffic on a regular basis. That is an effective way of cyber supervision.

Our staff researches new monitoring tools even though the school system's network and Google's privacy restrictions bring limitations. With the collaboration of staff and parents, we can ensure our students continue to use technology properly.

Parents are strongly recommended to review parent cyber safety resources in the following link: https://kids.usa.gov/parents/online-safety/index.shtml

TOASTMASTERS

As our students are learning and growing as leaders, presentations are becoming more a part of their day-to-day. CMIT South is teaming with Toastmasters to help students gain confidence in leadership and public speaking.

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. This is an 8-week program, culminating in a banquet where the students show off their speaking skills to their parents and peers.
