6th Grade Breakfast with the Principal
Breakfast with the 6th grade parents sessions took place in November and December for all 6th grade colleges. Parents had another opportunity to meet with each other, discuss the curriculum, ask questions, make suggestions, and share concerns.

After holding the last session this past Thursday, I was glad to see our involved parents love the school and the current offerings. With the feedback and suggestions, our team will continue to improve its practices.

Huge Success in First ITEC Course

Our ITEC students have finished their first college course with a huge success. We have celebrated our students’ success during the “ITEC Student & Parent Breakfast” this morning Friday, December 16, 2016. Students were so excited to share their first college course experience with the audience.

As a CMIT-South Family, we appreciate our parents' support and students’ efforts to make this success happen.

CLF Stem Fair & Makers' FEST
Ready, Set, CREATE!
On January 28th, 2017 CLF will host its annual STEMFair and 1st annual MakersFEST at CMIT Elementary. With STEMFair projects and research already underway the competition seems to be heating up! We are also highlighting those who choose not to compete but would like to show off their talents! The MakersFEST is a non-competitive showcase so everyone is invited to enter. All you have to do is fill out the MakersFEST Fundamental Form! This year CLF will also provide financial support on a first come first serve basis to those who may need it. If you find yourself short on supplies just contact clp@clfmd.org with a quote for the materials you need. Don’t forget to send progress pictures of your creation to clp@clfmd.org for printing. As a reward for entry, MakersFEST participants will be entered into a raffle to win cool prizes! Next year CLF plans to share these MakersFEST projects with the Maryland STEM Festival and the world! Come out and see the creativity of our future inventors on January 28th!

UPenn, Dartmouth, and Columbia
The students are currently learning about the major world religions. We have discussed their similarities and differences. In addition, we studied how their similarities and differences cause conflicts.

The students will be taking a test next week. A study guide is attached to Edmodo. Each class also received a link on Edmodo that allows them to join Quizlet.com. Quizlet has many valuable resources to help them with their study guide and review for the test.

The students are currently looking at the impact Native American culture has had on modern society. Next week they will take a test on culture and geography in North America. I have attached links on each of my classes Edmodo page so they can join quizlet.com. We reviewed ways for the students to study by participating in any of quizlet.com's resources.
Next week we will look at the the relationship between African Americans, Europeans, and Native Americans..
