Happy Thanksgiving
|
As we reflect on the many things for which we are thankful, CMIT South wants to take this opportunity to share just a few of them with you: We are thankful for our students who come to school every day ready to learn – they give us all a daily reminder of what is important and why we are here. We are thankful for the support of the parents in creating an outstanding partnership for our students. We are thankful for the teachers, assistants, nurse, secretaries, lunchroom staff, support staff, and administrators who really care about student achievement and have the best interests of our students at heart. We are also thankful for our volunteers who enthusiastically contribute so much to our school.
Everyday, we see dedicated and tireless individuals going above and beyond to make sure that great things happen in our school. They do make a difference, and the children, in their own individual ways, benefit from those efforts.
Most importantly, we are thankful for the parents that have kept the faith in us. They continue to share their most valuable possession with us and—in most cases— work hard and advocate to be a partner in their children’s education, safety and well-being. For this, we are ever so thankful.
From CMIT South family to yours, Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

National Career Development Month
|
November is National Career Development month. This past week I went into all CMIT-S middle school technology classrooms to help students identify their Holland Code and learning style. Students completed a Career Interest Inventory which helps students identify their interests, skills and values. Students used these results to determine their two to three letter Holland Code. Once students found their Holland Code, they were able to see related careers to their personality type. What is a Holland Code you may ask? RAISEC are the abbreviations associated with John Holland's six personality types. These personality types are Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional. Students found their top 3 personality types and had Holland Codes such as; SAE, RSC, or IE. In career development and counseling we use these personality types to help students identify careers.
Students then identified their learning style ( auditory, visual or tactile). Using their learning style, students were able to identify appropriate study methods, classroom tips and other ways to be successful in school.
Talk to your student about their Holland Code and learning style.
