The BRAIN Challenge 2.0: Ethical Considerations of BRAIN Technologies
|
The NIH Brain Research Through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN) Initiative is calling for creative essays or videos from currently enrolled U.S. high school students. NIH wants to hear their perspective on the ethical implications of brain research projects and technologies.
For Example: If your brain activity has been recorded, does that information belong to you, the researcher, or both? Or someone else? Should you have a say in who can see that information?
This is a nation-wide challenge.
The submission opened on March 14 (during Brain Awareness Week!) and closes at 7:00 PM on April 14.
Follow the link below for more info and to apply for the challenge:
https://www.challenge.gov/?challenge=brain-initiative-2022
Winners will be announced and introduced during virtual sessions at 12:30 PM on June 21 during the BRAIN Meeting (Register now: 8th Annual BRAIN Initiative Meeting).

Greetings dear students, their parents, and guardians,
Thanks to all Mathmagicians club students. Learning new concepts, practicing them is a huge commitment. It takes time, it takes energy. But as CMIT Academy North High School, we have a great team. I am so proud of you guys!
The Mathmagicians club students have a few competitions left for the rest of the school year.
- AreteLabs | Math Madness: Weekly for all high school students
- Caribou Contest: April 6/7 for 9&10 and 11&12 graders
- Math League Algebra 1 Contest: April 15th for all high school students
- Caribou Contest: May 11/12 for 9&10 and 11&12 graders
Thanks to the Mathmagicians!
Keep up with the work!
*****
I am so excited to announce that we are looking for new faces for the upcoming school year. The olympiads start very early in the school year, and practicing takes time. So, I would like to have a sub-group to prepare them for the upcoming school year's competitions.
Let’s talk about what will happen if you join Mathmagicians. Students will prepare to attend the district, state, national, and international-wide competitions. They will eventually be prepared for the Pre-SAT and SAT. They will be able to learn question tips, hints, and shortcuts to solve more math problems in less time. Students should be willing to study, make a commitment to join the sections, and assign work. Students will represent our school in competitions. To do so, they will need some motivation, and we will have some fun activities too, such as field trips, game days, pizza parties, etc.
Please find the presentation as attached, and review it if you are interested in it.
