Black History Month Contests Winners!
KUDOS to all teachers and scholars who participated in our BHM Display Contest. Displays are AMAZING! We had several judges who had the difficult task of picking winners! Displays were judged on the following criteria: Informative/Inspirational, Creative Use of Materials, Original Design, and Neat/Organized. It was a TOUGH competition. Here are our winners! 1st Place: Ms. Houston's class 2nd Place: Ms. Matson's class 3rd Place: A 3-way tie! Mr. Dunn, Ms. Cunning, & Mr. McKinley Honorable Mention: Mr. Elrod's class CONGRATULATIONS!

Black History Month Celebrations!
Thanks to all CMIT staff members, students, and parents who participated in our Black History Month activities! We were able to have a fun-filled, inspirational, and engaging month of activities and presentations! We enjoyed our daily Black History Month facts, Jeopardy Game, themed dress-down days, contests, and DJ lunch! We learned so much from the presentations from our special guests: HBCU & Divine 9, Fitness - African dance, Natural Hair and Grooming tips. We will continue to have engaging activities this year that are informative and engaging! Stay tuned for exciting announcements for upcoming activities for March!

2020-2021 Yearbooks finally ARRIVED!
LAST YEAR'S Yearbook has finally arrived. Emails will be sent to those who purchased yearbooks with details on when to pick them up. If you did not purchase a yearbook last year, we do have extras. They are $55 and can be purchased from Ms. O'Donnell. If you did not order a yearbook, but would like to purchase one, you can get them in Ms. O'Donnell's room. Or email her and she will get one to you. The cost is $55.

2021-2022 Yearbook Sales
The Yearbook Club has been working hard to collect pictures of events, write blurbs and designing what will be a yearbook like no other! Yearbooks are on-sale beginning this week. DEPARTMENT UPDATES
Battle of the Fundamentals Competition for 9th Graders!
Hey 9th Graders! Are you Mastering or a Master of your Mathematics Fundamentals? Then this is the time to show it off! Starting Monday, March 7, the Mathematics Department will start the BATTLE OF THE FUNDAMENTALS. The Battle Questions focuses on Mathematics Fundamentals such as concepts on whole numbers, counting, place value, rounding, exponents, and negative numbers; addition and subtraction; and multiplication and division. The Battle will take place during Period 3 (9th graders Lunch Period) through a Quizziz link. This will be sent twice a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, to the 9th graders CMIT email address. So, check your emails during that time! A small gift prize will be given to students who get a PERFECT SCORE!

PTO UPDATES
PTSO March Meeting
Due to a scheduling conflict, our next PTSO Meeting will be on THURSDAY, MARCH 10TH at 6:30pm. On the agenda will be an update to the PGCEA (Educator's Association) Negotiations with PGCPS, Board of Education vacancies, Maryland Mask Mandate lifted, CEO proposed budget and other important items. I am hoping to have our Board of Education Member, David Murray attend along with a guest from the Maryland State Educators Association to talk about the Blueprint for Maryland's Future that will provide Prince George's County with millions of dollars in funding for programs, salaries and resources. PTSO Is selling Reusable Water bottles! Great for students to use with the filtered water fountains. Great for the environment. No more plastic bottles!! They are $5 and can be purchased in Ms. O'Donnell's room or you can email Ms. O'Donnell for pickup. Thank you for supporting the PTSO!!

PTSO Membership Drive!
PTSO finally has an account and is ready to collect members! Thank you for being so patient!! Membership fees are usually $10/family, but since we got started a bit late we are only charging $5/family. This money will go directly to assisting our students! Supporting them and helping them to achieve their goals. We have already had a request from the baseball team to help them raise money for new baseball hats. They cannot compete without them. Let's start our NEW PTSO by helping these student athletes. Please join the PTSO for $5 and/or make a donation to the baseball team. To sweeten the effort, the class that has the most new members joined by MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH will receive a prize (TBD).
