High School Graduation Ceremony 2021
|
Students and Parents of Class of 2021,
This yearβs graduation ceremony will be held outside at the football field at Northwestern High School on Tuesday, June 1st. Students need to arrive at Northwestern NO LATER than 8 AM. The ceremony starts at 9 AM and will only last one hour. Appropriate ceremonial attire is required for students. All students must be dressed in their assigned cap and gown. As a result of COVID-19, ceremonies will take place outside and students may wear appropriate clothing underneath their gown that will keep them cool and comfortable. There are no clothing color requirements for the clothing under the gown, however, no jeans, sweatpants, sneakers, crocs, or shorts. The ceremony will be outside on a football field so flats/comfortable shoes are recommended and should be worn. Decorations nor any other items should be affixed to caps neither before nor during the ceremony. Each student will be given 2 tickets when they pick up the cap and gown. The county will NOT provide extra tickets to any family, they have made this very clear. The ceremony, in its entirety, will be live-streamed on the CMIT-N HS Graduation Ceremony 2021 youtube channel!

PTSO FORMING
|
Our PTO will become a PTSO next year: Parent, Teacher, STUDENT, Organization! It is a new opportunity for our students to engage in the process and have their voices heard. This PTO is brand new and we are looking forward to new members, new opportunities and new relationships. In order to prepare and get ready for the 2021-2022 school year, we need to hold new elections, rewrite bylaws and start planning for a return to the school building for our kids.
But first, we need your help!!
We need to create our own set of governing By Laws. These are the rules from which the organization will function. If you are interested in helping to draft a new set of PTSO By Laws and join the Community Engagement Group, please contact Ms. Monica Pringle: jamoni6@juno.com.
We need a Nominating and Election Committee to gather nominations for officers and conduct elections. If you are interested in assisting with the election process by joining the Nominating and Election Committee, please complete this google interest form: https://forms.gle/QJMKVK7ENqaUi5eVA
If you have questions about the committee please contact Ms. Brenda McCain: indiarayiona@yahoo.com
Descriptions of the Officer Responsibilities are here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1826vMpBM20QcZ8vwWnV7zhVAt3PopoLq7po3WQg5H78/edit?usp=sharing
Please consider running for office. Since this is a newly formed PTSO, you may run for office as long as you have a child enrolled in CMIT North HS. Please submit your name and the office you are seeking to Ms. Brenda McCain at indiarayiona@yahoo.com. Nominations will be accepted until 11:59pm on SUNDAY, JUNE 13TH.
We will have a June meeting to allow the candidates to present their platform and elections will be through google forms in July. The goal is to have officers in place by the beginning of August.
Please join us in setting up this new organization. Our students have been through a lot this past year and they deserve an organization that will support and encourage them as they navigate through this new sense of normal.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Tammy O'Donnell at todonnell@cmitacademy.org
