High School Graduation Ceremony 2021
|
Students and Parents of Class of 2021,
This year’s graduation ceremony will be held outside at the football field at Northwestern High School on Tuesday, June 1st. Students need to arrive at Northwestern NO LATER than 8 AM. The ceremony starts at 9 AM and will only last one hour. Appropriate ceremonial attire is required for students. All students must be dressed in their assigned cap and gown. As a result of COVID-19, ceremonies will take place outside and students may wear appropriate clothing underneath their gown that will keep them cool and comfortable. There are no clothing color requirements for the clothing under the gown, however, no jeans, sweatpants, sneakers, crocs, or shorts. The ceremony will be outside on a football field so flats/comfortable shoes are recommended and should be worn. Decorations nor any other items should be affixed to caps neither before nor during the ceremony. Each student will be given 2 tickets when they pick up the cap and gown. The county will NOT provide extra tickets to any family, they have made this very clear. The ceremony, in its entirety, will be live-streamed on the CMIT-N HS Graduation Ceremony 2021 youtube channel!
Below is the channel info and the Livestream link:

The Next Big STEM Project: Solar Car
|
Some of our students have decided to build a solar-powered car and take part in a 1,200-mile road race in July of 2022. This is quite a challenging project, but it promises to be a rewarding experience for those who choose to participate. We are planning a virtual presentation session soon to explain the whole idea. Keep your eyes open for more information as the date gets closer. In the meantime, you can read about the contest at https://www.solarcarchallenge.org/challenge/

Ms. Coholic's Science Classes
|
Hi everyone,
Last week, BioGeoChem students took an assessment on the spread of viruses on the microbiology level. Likely, we will have time for 1 more quiz before the end of school on the basics of genetics and viral replication.
In Physics, students have been surveying quantum physics. We are transitioning to atomic physics now. The use of Planck's constant, the concept of quantization, and the wave-particle duality of light are the current focus.
Have a great week everyone!

CAV-101 Comes to an End
|
Members of the CAV-101 study group got together at the Gym one last time to perform the last exercise of the program. Students were expected to program their vehicle to drive around a model of several street intersections marked out with tape. Everyone was a little disappointed to see the end of the program upon us.
